    computer applications, language, business, audio-

visual communication and engineering. Students with

a Higher Certicate have gone on to be part of local

businesses or joined one of the many multinationals

located in Ireland. Some now manage their own

The introduction of the National Framework

of Qualications in October 2003 has

    facilitated compatibility and comparability of

    qualications in European higher education.

This learner centred framework relates all

    education and training awards (Schools,

    Institutes of Technology and Universities)

made in Ireland to each other.

As a result of the framework learners,

employers and others are able to compare

Irish qualications more easily with those

    from other countries.

    Your qualication from Institute of

    Technology Tallaght has standing both

    nationally and internationally.

When you go for a job your future employer

will, of course, be interested in your

qualication. Is it an Honours Bachelor

Degree. If Honours is it a First Class of a

    Second Class Award.

After looking at your qualication your future

employer will then be very interested in

    your motivation, energy, enthusiasm and

commitment. What study projects did you

do? How did you spend your holidays? What

kind of enthusiasm did you have for your

hobbies, for sport? Did you ever contribute

with employers. We talk to the leaders of

Irish and International companies about our

programmes. We feel we owe this to you. It

    will enhance your employability.

If you have achieved your qualication in ITT

Research Centres located at ITT Dublin

Centre of Applied Science for Health

    (CASH)

The Centre of Applied Science for Health

    (C.A.S.H.) nurtures interdisciplinary

    research leading to the development

    of intellectual property and its

commercialization. It aims in particular to

generate new scientic knowledge in the

areas of Strategies for Combating Difcult

    and Antimicrobial Resistant Pathogens,

    Biomedical Devices, and, Pharmaceutical

    Development and Analysis.

The centre was established at ITT Dublin

in 2007 with funding of 10.6M from the

Programme for Research in Third Level

Institutions Cycle 4 and co-funded by

    the European Regional Development

    Fund, and works through collaborations

    with government agencies and industrial

    partners, to generate new scientic

knowledge, which leads to the creation

    of innovative technologies for improved

    diagnostics and therapeutics.

In September 2012, ITT Dublin opened a

new 6 million research facility on campus

as part of the Centre of Applied Science for

Health. The facility adds new laboratories

equipped to a high standard including

    laboratories for Microbiology, Biochemistry,

    Tissue culture, Confocal microscopy,

    Synthetic Chemistry, Materials & Surface

    Analysis, Analytical Instrumentation and

    Biomechanical engineering. It also includes

    three multipurpose labs re-congurable

to suit a variety of uses and designed to

attract and support co-location of industry-

    academic collaborative research.

The facility is primarily directed towards

research but will also have an educational

    aspect as nal years undergraduate

    students regularly undertake projects

linked to research activity. Outputs from

    research inform the ongoing development

of taught programmes ensuring they retain

currency and relevance to the market

    place.

CASH aims to provide research outcomes

that make a positive contribution to

    public well-being whilst also providing

    competitive advantages to Irish industry.

We aim to respond to scientic,

commercial, and societal challenges for the

    creation of new knowledge, technologies,

supports to industry, and the production

of well qualied M.Sc. and Ph.D. level

graduates to support the developing Irish

    which require medical attention beyond

monitoring. The condition is a combined

    sometimes progressive and distorts the
