CONFIGURE DASHBOARD: BPO DASHBOARD PANEL

Estimated time: 15 minutes

Objective

In the following exercise you will learn how to configure a dashboard panel or application displaying key figures relatedto Business Process Operations. This complements the dashboard applications displaying key figures related toBusiness Process Operations.

Exercise Description

The following description serves as a short overview to what objectives will be executed during the exercise.

Start the Transaction SOLMAN_WORKCENTER and navigate to work center Business Process Operations

Select the tool “Manage BPO Dashboards ” from the list of “Common Tasks ”

Create a new Analytical Key Figure Instance

Create a new Panel

Use the Panel in Management Dashboard, application Business Process Operations

1) Log on to your studentlaptop and open theDashboard design tool.

Then open a “BlankModel”.

2) Open the componentstray (left side of thescreen) and navigate to

category -> charts.Select “Column Chart”and drop it on the workingcanvas.

3) Resize the chart so, that itfeeds in your workingarea.

4) Give your chart a title andsub title.

To do so, select the“General” tab from theproperties section on theright side of the screenand type the followinginformation:

You can see the changesdirect on your diagram.

5) Provide some test data inyour Excel sheet.

To do so, start in cell B2and write a date e.g.01.01.2013. Continue withwriting dates into the cellsof this row until you have10 values (01.01.2013 to10.01.2013.

Now go to cell B3 andwrite random values (theyare just for testing) undereach cell with a date.

6) Assign your values to theaxis of the diagram.

To do so, select the “BySeries” radio button fromthe Data section of theGeneral properties.

Then click the icon inorder to define a new dataseries.

9) Now you have to definethe interface connectionwhich will later on receivethe data from the BWquery.

To do so, choose “Data”from the menu and clickon “Connections…”

The Data Manager opensa new window.

10) You create a newconnection by clicking on“Add” and selecting“External InterfaceConnection”.

11) Please create a newconnection definition by

clicking the icon inthe lower section of thescreen. Provide the

following definition data:

Range Name: InboundRange Type: TableRange: select cells from

A1:K3Access: Write

Hint: The range needs tohave one more row on topand one more column onthe left side, since the BWquery is going to write

technical data into it.

Close the data manager.

12) Save your files.

Select “File” from themenu and choose “Saveas …”

Then open the folder“Student (Local)”.

13) Open session folder“ITM263”.

Create a new folder andname it “Groupxx”(replace xx by your groupnumber)

Open the folder “Groupxx”and provide the file name“groupxx.xlf” (replace xxby your group number)

Now click on “Save”.

14) Create the flash file ofyour application.

Open “File” from menuand choose “Export” ->“Flash (SWF)…”

Navigate to share“Student (Local)” ->session folder “ITM263”Folder “Groupxx” andname the file“groupxxflash.swf”

Replace xx by your groupname.

Then click “Save”.

Now you can close theDashboard Design tool.

You have completed theexercise!

EXERCISE 3

REGISTER A NEW DASHBOARD APPLICATION

Estimated time: 15 minutes

Objective

In the following exercise you will learn how to use the registration tool in order to assign your own created application tothe standard dashboard framework.

Exercise Description

The following description serves as a short overview to what objectives will be executed during the exercise.

Start the Dashboard App Registration Tool

Provide the new created UI files (xlf, swf)

Use a BW query as data supplier

Add the new application to your dashboard

1) To prepare the exercise,please copy a providedicon into your local folder,where you have stored the.xlf and .swf file from theprevious exercise.

Open the “Student (Share)”on your desktop.

Open the folder “ITM263”.

Copy the file “Icon.jpg”

2) Now open “Student(Local)”.

Open the folder “ITM263”.

Open folder “Groupxx”(replace xx by your groupname).

Copy the file “Icon.jpg” intothis folder.

You should now have 3files in your local groupfolder:

Groupxxflash.swfIcon.jpgTeched.xlf

3) Now use the SAP GUI tolog on to system E2E(Solution Manager)

Client: 100 User: dashxx (replace xxby your group number)Pass: abc123

4) Open the Dashboard AppRegistration tool from youruser menu.

5) Click on “Register new App”.

6) Please provide thefollowing general settings:

Select Standard AppTechnical Name: Z_TECHED_GROUPxxShort Text: Response timegroup xxDescription: This is the

app from group xxNamespace: select Defaultcustomer namespaceCategory: select “Teched” Authorization Group: select “Public”

(replace xx by your groupnumber)

Provide the navigation pathto your local group folderwhere you have stored the

3 files (swf, jpg, xlf).

Click on “Next”.

7) Please select “DataProvided by BW Query” asdata source of your app.

Click “Next”.

8) Please type in“Z_TECHED_RESPONSETIME” as technical name ofyour BW query.

Leave the “Filter for BWQuery” section unchanged.

Select “Inbound” as yourapp connection name insection “Usage of BWQuery Result in App”.

9) Do not do any settings onthis screen.


10) The summary of your apptype settings are displayedon this screen.

Click on “Finish”.

11) Now you have successfullyregistered a newdashboard application.

Please close the appregistration tool.

12) Go back to your SAP GUIand double click on “MyDashboard” from your usermenu.

13) Your dashboard opens in anew browser window andthe BPO app from the firstexercise is displayed.

Please click on “Configure”on the upper right side ofthe screen.

14) You are now in thedashboard configurationmode.

Please click on “Add New

App”.

15) Please open the category“Teched” and select theapp that belongs to yourgroup.

Hint: Make sure that youcheck for your correctgroup number in app titleand description!

Click on “OK”.

16) Your own app has beenadded to your dashboard.

Click on “Save Dashboard”.

You have completed theexercise!
