Day 6

Activity: Transfer from Dodoma to Maramboi

This morning your safari guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Dodoma. From here you will drive to Maramboi Tented Camp. The drive takes about 5 – 6 hours. In the afternoon you will enjoy the beautiful views over the lake from your accommodation. For those who want to be active, they can join the Maasai guide for a short afternoon walk to the lake shore.

Accommodation: Maramboi Tented Camp, All Inclusive

This permanent tented camp is located in Rift Valley on the grasslands close to Tarangire National Park. The camp offers great view of the Manyara National Park, Rift Valley and Ngorongoro highlands and maintains 40 tents build on ample wood decks, of which suits, standard rooms and interconnected rooms for families. All of the spacious tents have en-suite facilities and private veranda with 24 hours of electricity. There is a swimming pool with view over the grasslands and cell phone reception for those who wish. The meals and snacks are served in the main tent at the center of the camp and for a bit of relaxing you can visit their lounge and library. With the right timing you are able to see big herds of wildebeest and zebras from the camp.

Day 7

Activity: Tarangire National Park

Today your safari starts! You will visit Tarangire National Park. This magnificent area is characterized by rolling country, the gorge (a deeply embedded river) which seldom runs dry, small swamps, acacias and the enormous baobab trees. The game park has a relatively large population of African elephants. There are also buffalos, cheetahs, hyenas and lions to be seen. In the dry season the animals assemble at the marshes for fresh drinking-water. We can assure you that this is a grandiose spectacle.

Day 8 and 9

Activity: Lake Manyara National Park

After an easy breakfast we will drive from Maramboi Tented Camp to Lake Manyara National Park which takes about 1 hour. The park offers a mosaic of vegetation habitats which can sustain a high density of wildlife. Its ground water forest which acts like a giant filtering sponge which gradually releases water so it can flow gently into streams, instead of running off, prevents the soil from eroding. From its high concentrations of animals such as elephant, buffalo and antelopes to its dense forests of Trichilia spp, ficus spp and Acacia spp, the park is diverse with both wildlife and vegetation. With its location at the base of the east African rift valley along the Gregory rift, it offers spectacular viewing of the escarpment. Lake Manyara is one of those national parks which offers rich and diverse game viewing within a reasonably small area. From its thick ground water forest at the park entrance to its more arid acacia woodland in the south. It is one of the best areas for elephant viewing and close encounters are very common. The bird life here is also exceptional. Because of its thick brush and forested areas, viewing of cats is not so common. You will spend 2 nights inside the park.

Accommodation: Manyara Tortilis Camp, Full board

This tented camp combines comfort with the sense of wilderness, the sense of freedom, the sense of being 'right there', as you relax after the excitement of the day. We make your safari-camp experience truly unforgettable. Each tent is designed with your relaxation in mind, equipped with comfortable king-size or twin beds and featuring en suite facilities such as shower, hand-basin and flush toilet. Fully-lit by solar lights, you'll soon forget that you're in a tent, forget that you're in the Lake Manyara. But not for long… the sounds, sights and smells of Africa are just on the other side of the canvas.

Day 10

Activity: Arusha - Visit Shanga and Cultural Heritage

In the morning you will leave Manyara National Park and we will drive to Arusha. The drive takes about 3 hours. We arrive around 12.00 at Arusha Coffee Lodge where you will visit Shanga. Shanga is a successful social enterprise which employs people with disabilities to create unique, high-quality, handmade jewelry, glassware and home wares incorporating recycled materials. These products are sold in Tanzania and all over the world, with profits being reinvested back into

They also have a collection of precious and semi-precious stones – including rubies, emeralds, tsavorite, diamonds, sapphires and opals. Of these their most highly treasured is tanzanite - a rare blue/violet stone found only in Tanzania, for which they have an international reputation.

After Cultural Heritage you will drive to Arusha Villa for the night.

Accommodations and meals

With respect to overnight accommodation we have tried to include a nice mix between lodges and so-called ‘tented camps’, which are really quite lavishly furnished lodges. Don’t be deceived by the canvas walls; these tented camps offer all modern amenities, including en suite bathroom facilities. But most of all, they offer you the joys of the unparalleled traditional safari atmosphere. All the meals during your safari are included in the price. Breakfast and dinner are daily served in the lodge where you stay. In the afternoon there are picnic lunchboxes in the car, your guide will find a nice place in the park to have lunch. During your safari you will always have bottled water made available to you. The only thing you have to pay for yourself are the alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in the lodges.
