ITI Limited Inks MoU with Department of Telecommunications for the Year 2019-20

ITI Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India for the year 2019-20. The MoU was signed by Smt Aruna Sundararajan, Chairman, Digital Communications Commission (DCC) & Secretary (Telecom) and Shri K Alagesan, CMD, ITI Limited in the presence of senior officials from Department of Telecommunications at Sanchar Bhawan, New Delhi on May 20, 2019.

The MOU exercise is an annual and mandatory feature for all Central PSEs where the performance parameters are fixed between the CPSE and the Administrative Ministry, before the financial year. The MoU envisages to achieve turnover and profit for the company for the year 2019-20 by giving greater thrust towards manufacturing of telecommunication equipment. The MoU also focuses to drive the Make in India and Digital India initiatives of the Government of India.

ITI Limited Declares Profit for the Year 2018-19

ITI Limited has announced profit for the year 2018-19, second consecutive year after a long gap of 16 years. The company has improved its revenue by 11% compared to the last year. Company’s total turnover for the period ended March 31, 2019 was Rs.1894 Crore as compared to Rs.1703 Crore for the previous period ended March 31, 2018. ITI has made a net profit of Rs.93 Crore without grants, as per the approved audited financial results for the year 2018-19. Highlighting the company’s achievement for the year 2018-19, Shri K Alagesan, Chairman & Managing Director, ITI Limited said, “It is a happy moment of accomplishment as we continue the success mission in the second year after a long gap of 16 years. It is a phenomenal jump in the performance of the company which improved by 11% compared to the previous year. ITI is now firm on a sound order book and is poised to scale newer heights in the coming years.

We have taken number of initiatives on improving our business prospects by partnerships in the upcoming areas of technology. We have set up testing labs in association with TEC, which would help the product companies to test their devices for mandatory certification. We have set up a new tier 3+ data centre with 1000 rack capacity, which may help many start-ups and other companies to store the data within the country. The employees at ITI are motivated and the momentum is positive. We hope to achieve much better results in the coming years.”

The company has achieved various milestones during the year 2018-19:

• ITI has won GujaratNet order (part of BharatNet Phase II) and the same is under execution.

• ITI is in the process of signing the contract with the Ministry of Defence for the ASCON phase IV project.

• ITI is the only PSU which got accreditation from NPCI for RuPay credit/debit contact card personalization. ITI has also received Master Card Certification.

• ITI is committed to the Government of India initiatives like Make in India, Digital India, Swatch Bharat, Skill India and Smart City.

Smt Aruna Sundararajan, Chairman, Digital Communications Commission (DCC) & Secretary (Telecom) Visits ITI Srinagar Plant

Smt Aruna Sundararajan, Chairman, Digital Communications Commission (DCC) & Secretary (Telecom), Shri K Skandan, Advisor to Hon’ble Governor of J&K and government officials visited ITI Srinagar Plant. Shri Idris khan, Unit Head, ITI Srinagar Plant welcomed the dignitaries. During the visit, the dignitaries were taken around the facilities of the Srinagar Plant like Optical Fiber Splicer Lab, Medical Technician Lab and Data Entry Lab. Smt Sundararajan also visited newly established Skill Development Center and interacted with students and faculty.

ITI Limited Sets Up Skill Development Centre at Srinagar Plant

To contribute towards the “Skill Development Mission” of Government of India, ITI Limited has set up a state-of-the-art Smart Skill Development Centre at ITI Limited, Srinagar Plant.

The center was inaugurated by Shri K. Alagesan, CMD, ITI Limited in the presence of Shri Idris Khan, Unit Head, Srinagar Plant, Shri Sheik Imtiaz Ahmad, MD, Comtech Group, senior officers

and employees of ITI Srinangar Unit, representatives of employee’s union, students & faculty from various districts of the state. Inaugurating the center, Shri Alagesan said, “Srinagar Plant has been manufacturing, supplying telecom equipments and contributing to the development of State of Jammu Kashmir since 1969. The newly established state-of-the-art Skill Development Centre in Srinagar Plant will provide training to upgrade skills and generate employment for the youth.”

The centre in association with Comtech Group, an organization specialized to promote information and communication system aims to provide professional training to youth in the region especially economically weaker sections of the society. These training programs will also help to create skilled workforce relevant to current and emerging needs in the telecom manufacturing space.

ITI Limited Holds 441st Meeting of Board of Directors of the CompanyThe Board of Directors approved the audited financial results of the company for the quarter ending March 31, 2019 in the 441st Meeting of Board of Directors of the company held at ITI Corporate Office on May 28, 2019. Shri K Alagesan, CMD, Shri R M Agarwal, Director (Marketing), Shri Chittaranjan Pradhan, Director (Finance), Shri Shashi Prakash Gupta, Director (HR), Smt S Shanmuga Priya, Company Secretary, Dr. Rajesh Sharma, Government Director and Independent Directors, Shri Saday Krishna Kanoria, Smt Asha Kumari Jaswal, Shri Suresh Chandra Panda, Dr. Akhilesh Dube and Shri Mayank Gupta attended the Board Meeting.

ITI Bangalore Plant Organizes Customer MeetA “Customer Meet” was organized on May 2, 2019 at ITI Limited, Bangalore Plant to showcase the state-of-the-art infrastructure for Telecom Testing Labs viz Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), SAR, Telecom Safety & Security and eco-friendly infrastructure Startup Hub‘Vinyas’. The newly established infrastructure for Telecom Testing Labs will enable telcos and their vendors for telecom and network equipment certification. Under the provisions of the Indian Telegraph (Amendment) Rules 2017, all telecom equipments prior to sale, import and use in India are subjected to Mandatory Testing and Certification. The certification of all telecom equipment under Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipments (MTCTE) shall be mandatory with effect from August 1, 2019 as per the notifications of Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC), a nodal agency of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). Shri K Alagesan, CMD, ITI Limited graced the occasion in the presence of Shri R M Agarwal, Director (Marketing), Shri Shashi Prakash Gupta, Director (HR), Shri K Hanumanth Rao, DDG-SR, TEC and Shri Anilkumar Muniswamy, Director, India Electronics & Semiconductor Association (IESA). Delivering the key note address, Shri K Hanumanth Rao highlighted the initiatives of Government of India for mandatory testing, procedures and certification of telecom equipments for the Indian market. Shri Anilkumar Muniswamy provided insights on various opportunities in 5G, mobile manufacturing and assured to extend support on behalf of IESA for incubation of startup companies at ‘Vinyas’ ITI Startup Hub.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Shri K Alagesan urged the prospective entrepreneurs and professionals to use the facilities of Telecom Testing Labs and utilize ITI’s one stop infra for manufacturing of products at ‘Vinyas’ Startup Hub to innovate ideas into realities. Speaking on the occasion, Shri R M Agarwal said “ITI has established ‘Vinyas’ Startup Hub under the Government of India’s flagship program of Startup India. Therefore we look forward to entrepreneurs to setup business opportunities at ‘Vinyas’ Startup Hub.”

Over 40 delegates from various Industries, EMC Consultants, Startup Aspirants and senior officers & employees of ITI Limited attended the event.

ITI Palakkad Plant Contributes to ISRO’s Space MissionITI Palakkad Plant has collaborated with Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), the lead centre for Launch Vehicles Development for ISRO’s Space Missions. ITI Palakkad plant has contributed for manufacturing of 43 electronic packages comprising of Remote Mount Safe Arm (RMSA), mCTEX, SPSEM, SARB C, SUB QB, PYCM, SARB III, BSATS PSM, SARB and ATS Power Modules. Fabricated and tested at ITI Palakkad Plant, these electronic packages were used in ISRO’s India’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C46) for the successful launch of radar imaging earth observation satellite RISAT-2B into the orbit from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh on May 22, 2019. RISAT-2B is a radar imaging earth observation satellite which provides services in the field of agriculture, forestry, disaster management and the high end surveillance capability of the satellite makes it more amenable for military purpose.

VSSC Accreditation Audit at ITI Palakkad Plant

A two-day VSSC Accreditation Audit was organized at ITI Palakkad Plant from May 15 to 16, 2019. Smt Annie Philip, Group Director, Mechanisms & Vehicle Integration Testing (MVIT), Valiamala, VSSC and QDTE Accreditation team conducted the audit of testing & evaluation screening of 10 types of Interface Unit packages for MVIT, Valiamala, VSSC, Thiruvananthapuram.

ITI Bangalore Plant Organizes Training Program on Government e-Marketplace Portal

A one-day training program on Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal was organized at ITI Bangalore Plant on June 13, 2019. Government e-Marketplace (GeM) is a one stop e-commerce portal of Government which facilitates and enables online procurement of the consumer goods & services required by various government departments, organizations and public sector undertakings. ITI Limited is a Registered Seller for selling goods as well as a Registered Buyer for buying goods through GeM portal. The training program was conducted

by Shri Gowtam H S, Business Facilitator-Karnataka/Goa, Government e-Marketplace (GeM). The training on GeM portal usage was imparted in two sessions; the first session for buyers (purchase officers), consignee & finance and the second session for sellers. GeM aims to enhance transparency, efficiency and speed in public procurement. It is a completely paperless, cashless and system driven e-Marketplace that enables procurement of goods and services with minimal human interface.

ITI Bangalore Plant Organizes Induction Program for AEE’sA five-day orientation program was organized for newly recruited AEE’s from IIT Palakkad from June 24 to 28, 2019 at IoT Training Center, ITI Bangalore Plant. Addressing the officers, Shri K Alagesan, CMD, ITI Limited provided an overview of the company goals, career growth in ITI with various roles and responsibilities. Shri Alagesan urgedofficers to contribute maximum to achieve the organizational goals while meeting their career goals as well.

Shri R M Agarwal, Director (Marketing) presided over the valedictory function in the presence of senior officers on June 28, 2019 at ITI Corporate Office. During the program the newly recruited officers also gave technical presentations to management on the various subjects.

ITI Bangalore Plant Organizes Industrial Visit for Cadets of Military College of Telecommunications Engineering

A one-day industrial visit for twenty three cadets of Military College of Telecommunications Engineering was organized at ITI Bangalore Plant on June 17, 2019. During the visit, the cadets were taken around the key facilities of the plant like PCB Manufacturing, SMT Line, 3D Printer, Data Center, IoT, ‘Vinyas’ Startup Hub and R&D.

ITI Bangalore Plant Commemorates 128th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B R Ambedkar128th birth anniversary of Dr. B R Ambedkar was commemorated at ITI Bangalore Plant on May 8, 2019 by ITI SC/ST Employees’ Welfare Association, Bengaluru. Shri K Alagesan, CMD, ITI Limited presided over the function in the presence of Shri R M Agarwal, Director (Marketing), Shri Shashi Prakash Gupta, Director (HR), Shri Y Muralidhar, GM-BG & R&D, Unit Head, Bangalore Plant, Shri A K Bajoria, GM-NS, NS Unit, Smt E K Jayasree, GM-Mktg, Chief Guests, Shri D M Ezhil Buddhan, GM (Broadband Networks, Network Operation Centre), BSNL and Dr. S R Keshava, Professor, Bangalore University. The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp followed by floral tributes to the portrait of Dr. B R Ambedkar by the dignitaries.

On the occasion, Shri K Alagesan paid homage to Dr. B R Ambedkar and recalled his role in framing the Constitution of India, contributions to the industry, social welfare of the weaker sections of the society and supporting the rights of labour and women.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri R M Agarwal described the life philosophy of Dr. Ambedkar and his contributions to social reforms in the country. Highlighting the role of Dr. B R Ambedkar, Shri Shashi Prakash Gupta said, Dr. Ambedkar is truly known for

transformation of the weaker sections of the society and his contributions to constitution of independent India.

Delivering his key note address, Shri D M Ezhil Buddhan said, “Dr. Ambedkar was a jurist, economist, scholar and social reformer. We should adopt the principles of Dr. Ambedkar in our daily life”. Addressing the gathering Shri S R Keshava emphasized on the ideology of Dr Ambedkar and his contributions to the agricultural sector. On the occasion the dignitaries were also felicitated by representatives of ITI SC/ST Employees’ Welfare Association.

ITI Limited Celebrates World Telecommunication and Information Society Day50th anniversary of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day was organized on May 24, 2019 at ITI Bangalore Plant, Bengaluru. Shri K Alagesan, CMD, ITI Limited presided over the function in the presence of Shri R M Agarwal, Director (Marketing), Shri Y Muralidhar, GM-BG & R&D, Unit Head, BG Plant, Shri A K Bajoria, GM-NS, NS Unit and Chief Guest Shri Srikanth Chandrasekaran, Senior Director, Standards & Technology, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Shri Srikanth Chandrasekaran delivered a keynote address on the theme ‘Bridging the Standardisation Gap’ and spoke on the issues and benefits of various standardization initiatives.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri R M Agarwal, Director (Marketing) said “Information and communications technologies are benefiting the society in numerous ways and it should be made accessible to people living in remote and rural areas.”

Highlighting the importance of the day, Shri K Alagesan said, “ITI has played a major role in the field of telecom equipment manufacturing and contributed to the development of telecommunications in the country. ITI is focusing on ICT, IoT, Broadband, Wi-Fi, ‘Make in India’ and ‘Digital India’ initiatives of Government of India.”

Shri K Alagesan and Shri R M Agarwal also felicitated the winners of essay writing competitions of Bangalore Plant, Corporate Office and NS Unit. The program was attended by senior officers, employees,

representatives of employees’ union and officers’ association.

World Telecommunication and Information Society Day was organized at ITI Mankapur Plant in association with IETE Center on May 17, 2019 at EDC Auditorium. The programme was inaugurated by Shri Rajiv Seth, GM-MKP, Unit Head by lighting the lamp in the presence of senior officers, employees, representatives of ITI Karmachari Sangh, Officers’ Association and students of IETE Center. A presentation on the theme ‘Bridging the Standardisation Gap’ was made by Shri Alok Kumar Gupta, CM-SEA, IETE Center. To mark the celebration, various competitions like marathon, essay writing and quiz were also organized for the employees and students. The winners of competitions were felicitated by Shri Rajiv Seth.

At ITI Palakkad Plant, banners depicting the theme ‘Bridging the Standardisation Gap’ were displayed in the factory premises. The valedictory function was inaugurated by Shri D Venkateswarlu, GM-PKD, Unit Head in the presence of Shri Noutial, Head of BPL Telecom, Palakkad Unit, senior officers and employees. Shri Noutial delivered a key note address on the theme. Shri Venkateswarlu felicitated the winners of essay writing and quiz competition.

ITI Limited Celebrates World Environment Day 2019ITI Limited celebrated World Environment Day (WED) across its Plants/Units on the theme ‘Air Pollution’ on June 5, 2019. The day was observed to create awareness about environmental importance, supporting action and driving the change for the protection of environment for everyone. During the celebration of WED at ITI Corporate Office, Shri R M Agarwal, Director (Marketing) highlighted the significance of the day and said, “The day aims to protect and promote positive actions for the environment in order to sustain life in the long run. This year’s theme calls us to reduce air pollution to keep environment clean. We must

protect polluted oceans, marine life and human life and commit to make earth a cleaner and greener place for future generations.” He urged all the employees to grow more trees in their surroundings to reduce pollution, to improve the quality of air, minimize the use of plastics. On the occasion Shri R M Agarwal planted a sapling followed by plantation of saplings by Shri K V Suresh, GM-PP, Shri T Krishnadas Rai, AGM-HR & PR, Shri Subhasis Som, AGM-V and other senior officers.

At ITI Palakkad Plant, during the celebrations of World Environment Day, badges printed with theme were distributed to employees. Banners with the theme were displayed at prominent places to create awareness among employees to reduce air pollution and protect environment. Shri Sasidharan, AGM-PCS, Acting Unit Head highlighted the importance of the day and explained various benefits of green environment for a healthy living. Shri Sasidharan planted a sapling followed by plantation of saplings

by senior officers, employees, representatives of trade unions and officers’ association. Around 500 varieties of saplings were collected from forest department and distributed to the employees.

World Environment Day was organized at ITI Naini Plant on June 5, 2019. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Manoj Saxena, AGM (HR & EDP) said “The celebration of the day is an occasion to educate people to protect environment and save the planet earth. Everyone should take steps to reduce pollution and contribute for a green environment”. Shri Manoj Saxena planted a sapling followed by plantation of saplings by senior officers at ITI Naini Plant.

ITI Limited Organizes 5th International Day of Yoga

ITI Limited organized 5th International Day of Yoga across its Units/Plants on the theme ‘Climate Action’ on June 21, 2019. Shri K Alagesan, CMD, ITI Limited, Shri R M Agarwal, Director (Marketing) and Shri Shashi Prakash Gupta, Director (HR) graced the International Yoga Day celebrations in the presence of Shri Y Muralidhar, GM-BG & R&D, Unit Head, Bangalore Plant, senior officers and employees at ITI Bangalore Plant. Shri Chikkanna, Yoga teacher from Ramakrishna Vivekananda Yoga Kendra highlighted the benefits of yoga and demonstrated various yoga asanas. Senior officers and employees of Bangalore Plant, Corporate Office and NS Unit participated in the yoga session.

As a part of International Yoga Day celebrations, ‘Awareness Run’ on Yoga was organized on June 20, 2019 from Shram Devi lane to ITI hospital ground, Sanchar Vihar at ITI Mankapur Plant. Yoga instructors Shri Ram Narain, Shri Girish Sharma, Shri Ram Shankar Verma, Smt Urmila Karmakar and Smt Vandana Upadhyay demonstrated conventional asanas and breathing exercises on June 21, 2019. As a part of International Yoga Daycelebrations, a session on Industrial Yoga was organized on June 21, 2019 at ITI Palakkad Plant. Dr Swarochisha, Medical Superintendent, Ahalia Hospital conducted the session with special emphasis on yoga at work place to boost the morale of employees and enhance the productivity. Shri D Venkateswarlu, GM-PKD, Unit Head, senior officers and employees participated in the yoga session.
