The DuPage Early Childhood Collaboration (DECC) is a collaboration of over 40+ key stakeholders working partnership across multiple sectors to support the coordination and alignment of systems resulting in high quality early care and education services so that every child in DuPage County will have access to quality services. We are glad you share in our bold vision ensure that every child enters kindergarten safe, healthy, ready to succeed and eager to learn. We share this common definition of Kindergarten Readiness:

“Kindergarten Readiness is a reflection of the community’s willingness and ability to support its children and families during the crucial learning years from birth through age five. It is the sum of Ready Families, Ready Health, Ready Early Care and Education, Ready Schools and Ready Communities working together to achieve positive outcomes for the children of DuPage County. Through family Interactions with our community services and supports, children are ready to be successful in Kindergarten and the future.”

Decades of data and ongoing research have proven what an effective investment high-quality early learning experiences are, regardless of socio-economic background. Children who have a solid foundation from early education not only perform better in school, they also gain the social and emotional skills they need to succeed in life. Research has proven that good investments in early childhood are really about investing in families and communities. They are about supporting healthy development in babies, strengthening the bond between a parent and child, and employing a highly-skilled workforce.
