    Ancient architecture is definitely a beautiful thing. It was structurallystrong and stable, also very pleasing to the eye.

    Although ancient architecture looks nice and intimidating,it is more often than some times; quite unstable and weak

    due to the solid concrete constructions of the buildings.

    In architectural design, there are many techniques that were used to make buildingsstrong and pleasing to the eye. The diagram before you is one showing the ''

    Another big technique of architectural design is arches. Archeswere mainly used for support on large buildings instead of solidwalls. However, arches in the modern day are usually used tonice looks to buildings while at the same time, adding strength.

    For one, we have pillars. Used mostly in ancient Greece, ancientRome and ancient Egypt was a very beautiful factor in architecture

    Throughout the eras of ancient architecture, there have been manydifferent kinds / styles of pillars and building that were sort of

    trending at certain times. They went from stacks of cylindrical slabsof concrete, to intricate vertical line patterns, all the way to smooth

    Crenelations (or battlements)the jagged things on top of castleswereused almost all of the time in ancient Scotland. Battlements were used

    by archers in battles and wars to shoot from without exposing theirbodies. Of course now not a lot of battler are raging on so they are not

    really implemented at all.
