Issue No. 23: August 15th 2018 FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK Over the past weeks teachers have selected artwork from each class to be displayed at the local ‘Becoming Famous’ Art Exhibition at the Scottsdale Art Gallery. Congratulations to the following students who had their art selected: Thomas, Lexie, Bailey, Mayah, Molly, Bellatrix, Eliza, Xavier, Jophiel, Kayelee, Leeland, Lillien K, Raphael, Monique, Christopher, Tace, Aaron, Matthew, Shanna, Lucy, Sarah and Rachael. We had a fantastic response to the uniform survey and the results are currently being collated. Thank you to everyone who completed the survey, viewed the samples and gave us verbal feedback. We look forward to publishing the results in the next few weeks—watch this space! Ms Stewart has organized some exciting activities to celebrate Book Week next week. Yesterday Mrs Cath Kilner visited from Scottsdale LINC to share activities based on the book ‘Mopoke’. Next Friday is the Book Week Parade beginning at 10am and LiL children will join classes for the parade. A book prize draw will be held for each class and LiL School Satisfaction Survey Over the next two weeks all staff, Grade 5/6 students and parents/carers will be asked to complete the annual School Satisfaction Survey. These surveys contain questions on a range of matters about our school and provide an opportunity for students, parents and staff to give important feedback. This feedback is valued by our school, enabling us to identify what we do well and opportunities for improvement. We encourage you to participate and complete the survey so that the school has a clear direction when planning future programs and services for students. Please complete online or return your paper survey to the school office by Wednesday 22nd August. Please contact the office if you wish to use a school computer to complete the survey. FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK

Over the past weeks teachers have selected artwork from each class to be

displayed at the local ‘Becoming Famous’ Art Exhibition at the Scottsdale

Art Gallery. Congratulations to the following students who had their art

selected: Thomas, Lexie, Bailey, Mayah, Molly, Bellatrix, Eliza, Xavier,

PUBLIC PHOTO PERMISSIONS

The Scottsdale LINC will be displaying photos of

students from the district enjoying Book Week

activities. The school permission form filled out with

validation packs DOES NOT cover displays outside

the school environment. If you have any concerns or

do not wish for your child’s photo to be displayed

at the LINC or LINC online please contact the school

office.

2019 ENROLMENTS/DEPARTURES

We are now calling for any 2019 Kindergarten

students who are not coming to Pre Kinder or

Launching into Learning, to register with the school

for enrolment next year. Likewise if you know that

your family will not be attending RPS in 2019 could

you please forward that information to the School

Office.

PRE KINDER

Please note that the Pre Kinder start time has

changed from 2.00 pm to 1.45pm.

COUNTRY GOLD WAFL TEAM

Congratulations to Shanna who was selected in the

Country Gold WAFL team. Shanna will participate in

the Country Gold Carnival in September.

DANCE EVENT

The Dance Event on Thursday August 30th is the

major fundraising event for the year for the School

Association. The Fundraising Sub-committee is

urgently seeking volunteers to help on the day.

Please contact the school office if you are available

to assist. Attached to this week’s newsletter is a pre

order lunch form to be returned by August 21st

please.

COMMUNITY DONATIONS

We would like to say a big thank you to the Dorset

Community House for their gracious donation of

fruit to our school. This type of donation is very

important for our students, supporting and

encouraging healthy eating.

SRC FUNDRAISER

The SRC are holding a Sunrise Bakery Fundraising

Drive to raise money for school equipment. This has

previously proved a very popular fundraising tool for

the school. Please have your order forms back to the

school by Friday September 7th ready for orders to

be placed and deliveries on Wednesday September

26th.

PERSONAL ITEMS AND TOYS FROM HOME

A reminder that it is not the school’s responsibility

to care for or look after toys and personal items that

are brought from home. Students are encouraged to

leave these items at home unless they are brought

along for sharing in the classroom. Remote control

toys/cars are not permitted at school.

SRC CAKE RAFFLE

Last week’s winner of the cake was Eliza. A total of

$45.50 was raised. Congratulations to all who

participated in supporting this SRC initiative.

CANTEEN

Our helpers for this week are Morgan Keachie and

Bonnie Berwick.

We still require volunteers for the Dance Event

canteen and donations of cakes and slices for the

day please. This is a nut free event. Please let the

school office know if you can help.

BREAKFAST CLUB

Next week’s helper is Sharee Forsyth

Cake Raffle

Our next S.R.C Cake Raffle will be held this Friday August 17th. The cake will be made

by the Mahoney family.

Please let Miss Stagoll know if you need to change your day.

Tickets will be sold at the start of recess and lunch on the day for 50c each. The

lucky winner will be announced at the end of lunch. All funds raised will go towards

purchasing new school equipment.
