Issue n* 4 SITA forges ahead with implementation SITA began rolling out project implementation activities in East Africa in May 2015 with a series of stakeholder consultation meetings covering different sectors, including cotton-textile-apparel (CTA), pulses, sunflower oil and information technology-enabled services (ITES) & business process outsourcing (BPO). Initial consultation meetings on the CTA sector were organized in Ethiopia and Kenya, while consultations on the pulses sector took place in Kenya, Uganda and the United Republic of Tanzania. For sunflower oil, consultations were held in Uganda and the United Republic of Tanzania, while consultations on ITES and BPO were held in Rwanda. The meetings were aimed at providing a map of value chains, sector analysis and an overall perspective on the target markets. The meetings addressed trade-specific topics - such as requirements of potential buyers and factors affecting competitiveness - and also focused on setting overall strategic objectives and recommendations for implementation. This fourth issue of the SITA Newsletter presents the proceedings and outcomes of these first consultation meetings.
