Well well well...

After a very long time batteling it out with Adobe Indesign we are finally back up and running. Oh and what a stories we have to tell, It’s been a great few months with Summer training days, camp out jams, and great get togethers. BUT there has also been bad times.

So what’s new in this brand new issue?

Well read how we had some amazing jams with Friends and Sprogits (noobs) traveld to many places such as Manchester, Leeds, Widnes, Warrington and more.

Had some of the best training days, but theres al-ways a period of bad times. In which we were hit hard! Canon 550D stolen by Chester cunts, Luke Reece 20ft injury, Adam Martin fractured sturnum and Ben Woodward broken nose. This wasn’t proba-bly one of the worst nock downs ever, but things are looking up once again with a new clothing range, website, camera and members all coming together.

Apart from all that there are the adverts, our pride and joy of promoting, Check out our new photo-shoot for DRUNKNMUNKY, some cracking shots we got only few weeks back. Also Airborn Enter-tainment with there new Sunday class’s (Members only) and other cool advert designs.

Thanks for reading our online magazine we hope you enjoy and share this around.

WARRINGTONSPROGIT

Forgive me for any missed detail or altered, as it was months ago. So were was this, I think this was Warrington have to say it’s not a bad place to train from what we experienced.

Had a majority of things to train, running pre’s, kong pre’s, hench standing pre’s and anything else Parkour wise, because face it any were in the world is potential for freerunning. Anyways this from what I can remember was a hit and miss with weather, which made it abit more fun. There was quite alot of us training couple of bails which was fun and some sick tricks be-ing threw down by peeps like Nathan Chapman and Ben Woodward.

Some of the locations we visited were very plain and had to be very creative and good level of skill. One area we spent alot of time at due to rain was... Am going to call it the “slopes” cause it had what I say.

Page 8: Issue 7

main location we was at during our visit to Warrington, The “Slopes” Kezo got hold of the camera and of course was a right NOOB with it. GET A GRIP!

Member Ben Woodward performing a basic front tuck, Played around with the ISO on the camera got some half decent shots. others failed as it was pretty dull with no lights on. and the rain added to the grimness.

The hottest day ever, no am being seriours I think I almost died from this heat. Great times! headed to Sankey another part of Warrington wasn’t much to do there apart from one or two roof gaps and a grass area. However it was really fun, stopped by police as usual. To start the day James, Scott and Luke were met by Ben Woodward and Ben Jones who drove them to the location everyone was at. arrived to people already on the roofs tops off and dying from the heat.

A pretty hench roof gap no one was willing to do on the day, with such a small area to roll the chances of hit-ting the wall was big. Kezo was stepping up but in the end called it quits.

MYet another day in Moreton, Not so much to tell in this feature, Had the usual practitioners. Frank,James,Kezo,Scott and Luke, with some extra faces.

Moreton is a great place to train with all the locations just over the road from each others, each with a unqiue type of movement to it. 20mins from Liverpool and home to the Ilaba-cas. Dont go spying on them now haha.

So what locations are best in Moreton? Well the Church is one of the main places to train ground level and roof level, below it has a two wall set at a decent height and distance for all sorts, double K’s, Kong Pre’s, speeds and all the other vaults. Above is a pretty hench standing precison between to parts of the Church roof, not so good at standing no worries you can run it along the wall with a drop of course.

This spot is the first location in Moreton as you come out of the Train station, it has a decent standing cat and for those big shotsit also has a runnig pre which is pretty decent.

RED ROCKS CAMP OUT

One of the most funniest experiences ever.

A huge Jam all planned for a great summer time turned out to be about only 10 of us going. great no it actually was great. The jam consisted of us training in Liverpool all day then going to West Kirkby red rocks were we would be camping for the night.

To begin we met people in the usual spot in Liverpool Gardens - some people joining us was Jonny Davies, Jack Bellis, Toby Kelly, Ney Howard. along with James, Scott and Luke. Frank joined but only for Liverpool we still love him,

We hit all the main spots in Liverpool but had like some tents and stuff lumping round with us, So that slowed us down abit.

Page 39: Issue 7
Page 40: Issue 7

Near the start of the day Scott throws a back full in the gardens, this kid never warms up and can throw flicks and other stuff early in the morning see that in the Leeds video...

Page 45: Issue 7

The school is a main place to train roof gaps, no of them are really high up just the distance might seem far for some. it’s a really good place to train on your heights.

Left Liverpool at about 7-8 ish - didnt realize how much of a treck it was going to be, carrying alod of food (sweets) a tent and a camera bag, it was killing - took us about 30 mins to walk through the jungle to get to Red Rocks.

Page 49: Issue 7

Snacks from iceland - this did a good job keeping us alive for the night.

Page 50: Issue 7

Red Rocks - James Harkness what a guy....

Page 51: Issue 7

We arrived at about 9 ish - and trained for bit on the rock not the best thing in the world like but was fun.

Page 52: Issue 7
Page 53: Issue 7

Luke Reece - enjoying the sunset - was pretty incredible

Page 54: Issue 7
Page 55: Issue 7

Once the sun was gone it was time to set up the tents - James brought a so called 3 man pop up tent - instant-ly pop up no way was it going to be 3 man - was the most crampped thing ever. Bellis, James and Luke all in together - Jonny,Kezo, Ney and Scott in the other tent also crampped in.

It was coming up to about 11pm and we all decided we wanted booze! haha and the closes place was the tesco. Now someone thought it was 24/7 boy was they wrong. We took a hour and 10 minute walk down a pitch black road that never seemed to end, and only fun to have was to take pictures - this road was on going for along time.

We also decided to leave our tents in the forest with some of our stuff still there and almost in eye view. Just so you know, no they never got robbed - nothing we could have done if they did haha. We ended back at camp at about 2am James,Bellis and Luke stayed up all night, hoping to see sun rise, fuck did it come clouds in the way. good times

It was just a normal days training! we were heading for a school gap but couldn’t find it lol so we headed over to the pavillion, we got up and startedmto do a few precision jumps. i saw a little precision and thought i would give it ago, I first checked my landing and take off point to see if everyone was strong and went for it. as i landed everything went slow, i dont really have a clear idea what happened but i’ve been told my foot slipped out so i tried to catch back on the wall but must of head butted it because i must have been unconscious as i was falling because i don’t remember the fall. As i hit the ground i heard the impact and opened my eyes thinking “wow! glad that was a dream” and looked down to my leg and it was all mangled and facing towards me, my friend popped his head over the top of the wall and asked if i was ok. i was in shock and kind of freaked out asnd shouted “NO! called a fucking ambulance!”

My mates soon got to me and asked if i was ok, i tried to stay calm but kept thinking to myself “im so stupid! how the hell did i fail that?” lol, then told them to film me because i wanted to see what i looked like when i was better. A woman that was walking by came to see if i was ok and rung my mum and the ambulance. my vision went blurry and everything went blue, i just felt like going to sleep but the woman next to said not to. Then to make things worse an old lady came over and started chatting with me and then tried to town my leg which was obviously broken! The Ambulance soon arrived and gave me gas and air for the pain, then cut my pants and shoe off. The Ambulance people said they were going to have to straighten my leg and and started to take huge gasps of gas and air, as they done it was the single most painful thing i’ve ever experienced then they got me on this bed thing and car-ried me to the abulance van.

Becuase i was in moreton at the time they took me to arrowe park hospital over there, Only one of my friends could come with me in the ambulance so james came with me. all I was thinking was “what am i going to do next?” i thought about quiting after this because at the time i thought i would wake up with no leg! We finally got to the hospital and my parents soon came, It was waiting for 4 hours in A+E also waiting for my TC scan and also for the surgeons to decide what my in-juries were. It turned out i had broken my Nose, Tibular and Fibular and my main blood artery in my leg, so not enough blood was going to my foot which could have resulted in Apmutation.

I finally went into Theartre and had a 6 hour opiration on my leg and also my blood artery. After this all i remember was waking up the next morning with a big metal frame on my leg and a huge nose with a swolen face.

While Luke was feeling pretty down after his fall, James thought it would help lift his spirit if a wiseman with words poped in, more than we expected aswell... Daniel Ilabaca gave him a visit but also brought along James Kingston, Martin, little ilabaca and his mother..

It is hard to pinpoint a date when I began training Parkour and Free Running. Perhaps 4 years ago if you include the 6 months of jumping off the highest wall I could find and doing sloppy front flips at the beach. Having seen the community radically change, I have seen people come and go. Although it was extremely sad to see my close friends quit and find other ways to occupy their time, I am very greatful they gave me the opportunity to engage in such a positive sport.

Parkour can’t be defined by a single athlete/traceur. Whilst people argue whether parkour is about efficiency, fitness or overcoming obsticales in life, I get on with what I simply enjoy doing. When people try to associate parkour as a life changing thing it makes me laugh, yes parkour has changed the way I see things but I dont base my life around the sport. Parkour to me can be summed up by the famous quotation “Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate but that we are powerful beyond measure”. I believe that the greatest attributes of Parkour are commitment, creativity, exploration and community. Together we can achieve a lot more and find potential limits to break. Since 2007 the standards have risen significantly - seeing any double somersaults these days is a casual expectation, back in 07 if a double somersault was thrown it would be an enormous move. The point is that parkour to me is all about finding the limits to what I, and other practitioners, can achieve - mentally and physically.

I can not predict how long the role of Parkour will play in my life, perhaps one day I will have to find a new chapter in life. However, for now Parkour is a signifcant aspect of my life and I have experi-enced unforgettable memories.

is a research project that was developed in the University of Liverpool’s school of architecture to examine the relationship between human move-ment and the design of cities.

The study builds upon research into the relationship between architecture and Parkour carried out by the Danish architects Bjarke Ingels Group and the film makerKaspar Astrup Schröder and their documentary entitled my playground.

For the purpose of this study we are looking for individuals that have an ac-tive interest in interacting with the built environment, consequently we have a particular interest in working with practitioners of Parkour/ Freerunning and architecture students. The purpose of the study is to understand how real life experiences can contribute to the building design process. The study is also intended to highlight the benefits of the Parkour and Freerunning dis-ciplines and the potential that these activities have for enhancing the quality of urban life.

Breaking the Urban Code

Page 117: Issue 7

Details of the exercise

Participants involved with the study will be asked to take a journey across a city, travelling from one destination to another taking whichever route they wish to choose and taking as long as perceived as necessary. Participants are given no further instructions other than that and will not be given a map or directions as they are expected to act in a manner which is natural to them. Consequently there is no set amount time for the study to be completed within and participants are given the freedom to stop on the way wherever and whenever they wish. Please note, during the exercise participants will be filmed in order to record the observations made by the research team. It is important that participants are also aware that there will be no correct way of completing the exercise as it is intended to be a personal and enjoyable experience.

Following the journey participants will be asked a series of brief questions relating to the experience that they encountered during the journey. Participants will be given the opportu-nity to talk about the story of the trip in as much detail as they wish and are free to provide photos, video films, drawings or anything else that helps with discussing what happened.

If you are interested in getting involved please contact Michael Otchie ([email protected])
