Families on the move To all families moving on, relocating or returning overseas or interstate, we wish you every success. Our school is truly enriched by our international families, those from interstate and local schools.

Farewell to Mrs Madden, Mrs McSwain and Mrs Weppner Each year some of our teachers explore opportunities to expand their horizons. Congratulations and best wishes to Mrs Pip Madden who has accepted a teaching position at Mentone Grammar. Mrs Meg McSwain and Mrs Sally Weppner are both taking next year to spend time with their families.

Teachers on leave Mr Ross Bailey will be taking long service leave until March 2017. Mrs Kerryn Pearman will be taking leave for another 12 months.

Welcome to new staff in 2017 On Wednesday our students met their class teacher for 2017. The following teachers will join our teaching team: Miss Mel Vallance (Year 1 team), Miss Anthea Cain (Year 1 team) and Miss Tayla Corrigan (Year 2 team).

Thank you to all staff Every day all who work at BPS, the teachers, the administration team and our support staff, collectively contribute either directly or indirectly to the education of your child. They enjoy the collegiality of the co-workers, the challenge of their profession and we greatly value their commitment to our clear focus on student academic achievement, engagement and wellbeing and the smooth running of the school. We thank them for their professionalism and sense of fun woven in to all that they do each and every day.

Thank you to the Parent Community Your contribution makes possible and brings to fruition the many initiatives, programs and events that make this school a great place for our students to learn and develop. Parents generously support the teachers and the school overall in so many ways and your support truly overwhelms and amazes us. Thank you to School Council, Finance Committee, Education Committee, Buildings & Grounds Committee, Marketing and Communications Committee, Grants Committee, Canteen, BFAC, Scholastic Book Club, Clothing Recycling, Parent Club and Class Representatives, the Fete Committee, Gardening Club, and the huge team of parent helpers who assist in so many ways.

On 31 January, the staff will participate in the program as part of one of our curriculum days. On February the 9th the Resilience Project will be presented to all students, then a parent session will be held on 20 February at 6.30pm. THE SNACK SHACK The last chance for lunch orders this year is tomorrow, Friday 16 December as it is the last trading day of The Snack Shack for 2016. I would like to thank all the volunteers who have helped out during the year and encourage everyone to submit their volunteer form to the office for 2017 by Friday 16th. I would also like to send best wishes all our Year 6 students who are moving on into their next phase of their education. I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe break and I look forward to seeing students and staff again in February. Ellie Hilton. Access to Compass once your child has left Beaumaris Primary Once your child has left Beaumaris Primary School you will no longer be able to log into the Compass portal. LEVEL LOW DOWN Year One

What a wonderful whirlwind of activities and events over the last week! Monday started off with a bang. Most of us rotated between Christmas activities including icing biscuits, making fruit sticks and creating ornaments. Wednesday was the highlight. We met our Year 2 teachers and classmates! It was a little nerve-racking to begin but also so exciting. After the fun get-to-know-you activities we were all feeling even more positive. Keep calm and bring on 2017!

Year Three

As we’re sure you all know it is the second last week of school so we decided what a better way to celebrate this fabulous year than enjoying each other’s company while taking part in some sporting activities. It truly has been such a special year in so many ways and here are some of our favourite moments of 2016: -Having an absolute ball at our very first school camp -Enjoying a beautiful day for our excursion to the market and Yakult factory -Having a blast to the past at Blackrock House -Being reading mentors to our Prep buddies -Learning from our many parent guest speakers And so much more!

From all of us in Year 3, wishing you and your family a merry

Christmas, have a safe and relaxing break and see you in the New

Year!

Year Four

On Friday we celebrated a very successful Village Market Expo as a conclusion to our study of Economics and Health this term. The children enthusiastically made and sold products or offered a service to customers. We will now tally up our profit and collectively decide which charity we will donate too. We would like to thank the parents and friends for their support on the day. Supreme Incursions visited us on Monday. We learnt and practiced some fantastic Hip Hop dance moves and discovered that we can all dance. We also participated in team building games and learnt strategies to support and encourage others. ‘You can do it” ideas. Our Life Saving and Fish and Chip Celebration Lunch at Beaumaris Life Saving Club is on Thursday 15th December. We are a Sun Smart school and it is compulsory for children to wear a school (or other Sun Smart) hat, bathers/ board shorts and sun screen together with a rash vest on the day. Please ensure your child has all of these items. Parents you are very welcome to join us on the day for lunch. We would also love one parent to walk down with us at 9.15am and one to walk back at 2.30pm. Please let us know if you can help.

Year Six This week is an extremely busy week for the Year 6 students. Monday 12 December the Year 6 students had their graduation. It was fantastic to see all the students perform on the night musical items with wonderful singing and dancing. Each individual student delivered a beautiful speech. The parents put on a fantastic function in the SALC. A special thank you to Liz Laws and Jodie Stewart for decorating the SALC, it was amazing!

Wednesday the Year 6 students took part in “The School Project”. Their aim is to provide children displaced through domestic violence with everything they need to continue their schooling and homework. The students packed school bags with donated supplies. As Ally said ‘I feel really good doing something like this” Kim said “It was really nice to do something like this for other students”.
