Dear Reader,Welcome to the May-June edition of Leyton Life magazine! Almost half way through the year and down to two figures before the Olympics commence. The overall improvements are making Leyton look much more splendid. Residents are still apprehensive that the borough and London, is not ready to deal with the influx of visitors from around the world. Comparisons being made to when Westfield first opened, how will the transport system and roads cope?Extending the CPZ is the equivalent of a dispersal zone, just like anti-social behavioural individuals move away from the” zone” so do cars, they move to other roads without a CPZ. Residents and businesses are not convinced that the latest spread of CPZ was really warranted, as a lot of the homes do not have cars, properties are tenanted with people who don’t drive and therefore have no interest as to what goes on outside regarding parking. Having walked along some of the new CPZ roads you can see very few cars during the day and evening, another expensive charge for car owners. Whipps Cross Hospital is now part of Barts Health NHS Trust, only time will tell whether the merger benefitted the patients and the staff.Do you get negative feelings of how your well planned ideas may go wrong? Then you really must read the article on p19about eradicating negative thinking which you may be directing towards others and towards yourself. If you have any comments for any of the above, or have something to share then send in by post or email, and if you wish to stay anonymous then feel free to do so.

Zero tolerance to negative thinking!Negative thinking is the most powerful poison in the world. It’s the only poison I can give to my family, friends, and enemies without legal consequences. Thought poison destroys them just as effectively as dioxin, DDT, or strychnine. Unrestrained negative thinking will also destroy my life.

I have zero tolerance to negative thinking. I don’t tolerate it in any form or to any degree. I don’t say it, think it, write it, infer it, or agree with it. It’s always wrong and never right. It always makes my life worse and never makes it better.

Every negative thought that comes into my life is there to teach me a lesson. The sooner I learn the lesson, the sooner it will leave. When a negative thought enters my mind, I do four things. First, I learn the lesson it has to teach. Second, I take positive action based upon what I have learned. Third, I think two new positive thoughts to displace the negativity from my mind. Fourth, I use Power Graphics to push my mind in a positive direction. Drinking poison, handling cobras, and negative thinking are bad for my health, and I don’t do it. I have zero tolerance to negative thinking. The biggest challenge you will ever face is living as a positive person in a negative world.Negativity permeates the twenty-first

century. The news media has turned disaster and despair into negative entertainment; they routinely stalk victims of tragedy exploiting their grief to satisfy twisted voyeuristic curiosity. Television is now a dumpster for Hollywood’s toxic waste, and if you let their rubbish into your mind, it will eventually make you sick.

Helpless and Hopeless have become our uninvited and unwanted guests. Helpless tells us there’s nothing we can do, and Hopeless tells us there’s no reason for hope. While it’s true that politicians live above the law and flout the will of the people, and while it’s true that drugs and violence are out of control, and while it’s true that the rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer, you can still live as a positive person in a negative world. But the only way you can make it happen is to focus on positive things.

A persistently positive focus creates a consistently positive mind.

If you want to be a positive person, you will have to rigorously control what goes into your mind and maintain a relentlessly positive focus.

If you really want to be positive, nobody can stop you.

Save Leyton Marsh protest By Lydia BurkeIn January local residents and marsh users came together after Waltham Forest Council granted planning consent to the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) to build a temporary basketball training arena on Porter’s field meadow, Leyton. Although not against London 2012, campaigners are distressed by the unwanted confiscation of 70% of Porter’s field for a huge 3 storey 11m high structure. The fenced off construction site is preventing all public access to this area of common land between now and the middle of October. Dog walkers and others now are forced to use the adjacent Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSRI) with further environmental consequences. The use of this land was unnecessary as there are plenty of basketball courts in the East End which could have been used to provide training facilities for Olympic athletes.Local residents, walkers, boat dwellers, Occupy protesters and others are finding the digging up of contaminated soil, noise of Lorries and cranes, and the huge building distressing and unpleasant. Ironically, in court the ODA claimed that the presence of protesters constituted “interference to the use and enjoyment of the land”. The campaign goes on because it is likely that this building will set a precedent making it much easier for developers to seek and gain consent to build on this important green space in the future. London 2012 has been sold on the back of the legacy it promises to leave and yet it has caused the loss of the entire East Marsh to a coach park and now it is possible that Porter’s field will be lost as well.
