The people in the Old Testament had waited and waited for a savior. InGenesis 3, we learn that from the very first time sin entered the world, God
had a plan for salvation.
All throughout the Old Testament, God used people like you and me toteach us His great love and to prepare the people for a Savior (Jesus).
But there was a lot of waiting. God said that the savior would be from theline of King David, but that didn’t mean it would be King David’s grandson.Nope, Jesus was King David’s great-great-great-great-great-great-(+ 19
more greats) grandson.
They waited a very long time!
John 1 says “The Word became Flesh and dwelt among us.” The Wordbecame flesh” in the form of Jesus. The waiting was over, the Savior was
born! How exciting!
God’s Word, the Bible, from beginning to end points us to Jesus. It tells usthat the people were waiting for a Savior from sin and death. It tells us
about God’s plan for salvation. It tells us that Jesus came to be theultimate sacrifice for all of our sins. It tells us that now that we have theassurance of salvation, we get to tell the world of God’s love. And, it tells
us that one day, Jesus will return.
The Bible is FULL of important information for our life and faith! Rightnow, we’re waiting for a lot. We’re waiting for Christmas. We’re waiting for
an end to COVID-19. We’re waiting for Christ’s return. While we wait forJesus and we wait for God’s perfect timing, we have the Bible to turn to
for answers about just how loved we are.
We wait for Jesus to return and tell others the Good News until then.
