A tough plant when mature, Tall Fescue is the “wimpiest” of all grass varieties for the first 6-9 months of its life after germination! Aquatic Issues? The Top 5 Questions You Need to be Asking Your Customers - and how these will tell the story of the site and create the best solution.

1. What is the problem? a. Algae - Filamentous floating mats or pea-soup green water color or bad odors? b. Weeds - Growing to surface, clogging pipes, interferes with recreation, looks bad?

2. Is the problem recently observed or is it a recurring issue? a. If recent, need best solution for desired results b. If recurring, how do I identify and fix underlying problem and prevent future occurrence?

3. What are the causes for the problem? a. Do they use a lot of fertilizer, is there agriculture runoff, where does the water come from (do I need to recommend something to mitigate nutrient inputs)? b. How deep/shallow? How old is the pond? (ponds go through an aging process like we do, the older the pond the more health problems it may have)

4. What is the system used for/being managed for? a. Irrigation, fishing, swimming, aesthetics?

5. What is the management history? a. Previous success? - Want to design something similar b. Previous failures? - Avoid recommending same treatment
