teaching career in 1973 when she opened a Theatre School at the Capri Ballroom, Platt Lane, Rusholme. For the next fifteen years she was to train students who would continue in the profession as both teachers and performers. Former pupils went on to appear in many West End shows as well as television and drama productions.

In 1984, Lynda was appointed an examiner for the I.D.T.A. and now, as a Principal Examiner, she regularly examines, lectures and adjudicates both in this country and abroad. Recently she has travelled to Cayman and Cyprus in this capacity. She works

The next milestone in Lynda’s career came in 1988 when the Lynda Cardwell School of Dancing and the Barbara Sharples School of Dancing merged to form the Sharples Theatre School, later to be renamed the Sharples Cardwell Theatre School. This proved to be a most successful venture that continued for eleven years until the retirement of Miss Sharples in July 1999.

The Cardwell Theatre School continues to be a huge success, with excellent results for both I.D.T.A. and R.A.D. examinations.

Every year students gain places at some of the countries top Classical & Musical Theatre Colleges. Pupils regularly appear in performances in pantomime at the Lowry. They have also appeared with numerous amateur societies and this year worked with the Northern Ballet Theatre in their production of the Nutcracker. Former students continue to enjoy considerable success in professional companies, West End shows and on cruise ships around the world.

Reverse Sun Damage and rejuvenate your skin.

24a Washway Road, Sale, M33 7QY

Summer is over and we bear memories of sunny beaches, relaxing hotels, romantic sunsets and unfortunately sun damage. Although age is just a number, it is no secret that we all want to look younger. Today anyone can feel younger and look gorgeous with a little help. Some of us go for painful Botox®, chemical peels or surgery. But before you decide to go down the root of dermal fillers or go under the scalpel why not consider looking into needle free, non-surgical options. Many women at Laserina Clinic have discovered new, kinder ways to lose wrinkles, without losing expressions and are looking younger, without any pain.

At Laserina Clinic we will tell you things that even your best friend wouldn’t, and give you all of the answers on how to turn back the clock. From Ultrasonic exfoliation to non-surgical Face Lift, IPL photo-rejuvenation to tips on how to maintain your result for longer, a team of experienced medical practitioners use every trick in the book to make you lose years off your face and body.Appearance is everything, and it’s not what

www.Laserina.co.uk

Appearance is everything, and it’s not what

age you are, but how old your friends and family think you look, that counts. Once the course of treatments is complete, our clients hear regular comments from people around them on how much younger they look and how fresher their skin is. It is not a secret that we all want to sparkle, especially at the Christmas party to make heads turn!

Advanced cutting edge technology used at Laserina Clinic will restore your skin to its younger, smoother and radiant complexion.IPL photo-rejuvenation uses new advanced light technology and works by replenishing healthy energy levels within skin cells which allows re-modeling collagen, reduction of large pores, brightening and tightening of the skin, evening tone and removing the consequences of sun damage such as red vessels and brown/age spots.Endermolift, the non-surgical facelift, doesn’t use electrical currents, dermabrasion or injections and is a completely natural procedure that gives the face a mechanical ‘work-out’ improving the skin elasticity and tone. It’s especially good for firming up and lifting specific zones.

viewtimperley.co.uk8A “youth” perspective on Timperley

We see a lot of articles in View Timperley about what it’s like to live in Timperley

for adults but we hardly see a youth perspective on our beloved suburban village. Fear not Timperley Viewers; Adam Legg is on the job.

It’s nearing the end of summer holidays. Most of “da youf” can still however be found in one of the many parks that are within easy walking distance of the village; such as Walton Park, Stamford Park, the field by Timperley track, Lark Hill and Timperley Green. It’s a beautiful day and all of the young people from Timperley have emerged from their Xboxs, PS3s and the highly addictive Facebook and are currently squinting behind humongous sunglasses at the wonderful phenomenon more commonly known as sunlight.

When asked about the little village that they live

in, the general consensus is that Timperley is “pretty dry” (For anyone over the age of 16 that translates into “very boring”). In this article I hope to prove them all wrong and show them that there is plenty to do in and around the village without paying the horrendous Metrolink fares to go to into Manchester city centre.

I, myself am an avid volunteer. I love volunteering for activities and getting involved in things. This has often proved unpopular with teachers as they think my social life should consist of studying, studying and more studying. I disagree with constantly working. I think that to give you the best start in life you should go out and experience the real world. Because, let’s face it, how many times have you used algebra or quadratic equations in the past week? Or needed to pick apart a poem in so much detail you end up with some weird theory that the author is always talking about death. However, on the other hand, how useful are communications skills? Knowing how to communicate with people is probably one of the most valuable skills a person can have. I mean; when was the last time you had a job interview over Facebook? Because I can guarantee that, if some of my friends had job interviews on Facebook we wouldn’t have 250,000 youth unemployment throughout the UK.

Volunteering helps you to improve your communication skills as you will usually

end up working in a team environment where communication is vital. There are many such places to volunteer around the village. A couple that I do for example are coaching at Timperley sports club (I help with the highly successful Pop Lacrosse Programme run by Di Gill and Sarah Baron, campaigning for the

local Labour Party and doing sound desk at the Methodist Church. These are some of the many things you can do within our, rather underrated, village. Other things include the Scouts and Girl guide movements. Timperley, to my knowledge, has two Scout groups (1st and 2nd Timperley both of which I have been a proud member of) and one Guide movement (attached to the 2nd Timperley, which, it may surprise you, I wasn’t a member of)

as well as a boys and girls brigade (situated at Timperley Methodist Church).

Timperley Methodist Church also has a youth group previously known as TSL (Nobody seems to know what that actually stands for) which is nowadays affectionately referred to by the minister, Andrew Bradley, as “the fellowship”. I am also proud to be a member of this too. It’s a good place to meet up and chat as well as have deep discussions about life’s key issues like “Life and Death”, “Where do we come from?” and “Where exactly do all the odd socks go?” (I think, as I’m sure you’ll all agree, they are definitely some of life’s greatest mysteries.)

Timperley offers a fantastic range of sports facilities to combat the alleged rising figures of obesity or for those who feel they need to lose some of that weight they picked up over the Summer. The biggest is Timperley sports club which offers sports ranging from Cricket to Lacrosse and is also a base for 5 a side tournaments and even has training for softball. The other place where you might look to get fit is the racetrack just outside of the village centre home to the Altrincham athletics team where, if you’re serious about losing weight and getting fit, you will find plenty of support from like minded people; from power walking to full on relentless sprinting you will find an activity suitable for you.

These are just a snippet of the wide range of things there is to get stuck in with throughout our suburban village. My honest opinion would be to go out and volunteer and get stuck in with our vibrant and friendly community.

Using computers has become part of our daily life, so in order to keep your PC

running at its optimum performance we thought we’d share a few tips with you:

• Clear your temporary files regularly.• Ensure your wireless router (Wi-Fi) is secured. If left unsecured, anyone within a certain distance can use your internet connection free of charge. This can also allow any unscrupulous person to gain access to your personal files etc.• Don’t open attachments via email unless you were expecting it or fully trust the sender.• Be careful of clicking on unexpected adverts/popups whilst surfing the internet. There is a chance of ending up with viruses or spyware.• If you think your PC might be infected with a Virus or Spyware, then your best bet is to seek advice as soon as you can. Don’t leave it.

Timperley Village Planters It all started in 1981 when David Bendell and his

daughter cleared the small plot in front of the Hilal restaurant and planted some flowers in it, simply to improve the look of the village and make it into a pleasant place to shop.

Later a Timperley Traders Organisation was formed by David and they did a number of things to improve the village. They bought some round, concrete planters filled them and planted them. A few years ago however, the Council decided to remove these planters and after some argument replaced them with 24 of the black square ones which can be seen in the village today, later others, with seats were added.

The Traders Group also started the Timperley Country Fair and the Timperley Village Development Group, which later became known as Timperley Civic Society. Christmas lights were paid for by the Traders who did all these things and more to make Timperley a pleasant place to be in and to shop in.

Page 17: Issue 13

viewtimperley.co.uk 7

01925 210669

Sadly the Traders Group disbanded, at least in part because many of the shops are no longer run by local Timperley folk, thus there is no umbrella organisation improving the facilities in the village. although Timperley Civic Society does what it can to maintain standards but without the financial clout of the Traders.

A great many people have commented on how nice are the planters around the village and what a good job the Council have done with them. Well, they are correct about the first part but the fact is that for a good many years the plants that you see have been provided by Crosby’s Nursery (not by the Council) and the planting and maintenance of the planters has been done by Brian Crosby, David Bendell and Peter Botting in their own time(they are not Council employees) . Brian and Peter were Nurserymen and David owned the Farm shop in the village.

A good deal of time and effort is required to keep them looking trim and these gentlemen are at it throughout the year, changing the plants with the seasons and weeding as required, which is quite often. The people of Timperley have great cause to be thankful to these gentlemen who have done so much over so many years to improve the ambience of Timperley Village.

Timmy’s AppealLast month Urban Riderz

hosted a Race Night at Sale Moor Cricket Club. Urban Riderz was set up in April 2009 as a non profit making community caring organisation who love and adore animals, and allow people the chance to learn, ride and look after horses in a safe environment. The event was held to rasie money for Shetland pony Timmy who has recently been really poorly. The money raised would help towards vets bills. Representatives from local Business Bathroom Angels & Kitchen Angels attended the event and Handed over a cheque for £350.

Co Owner of Bathroom Angels and Kitchen Angels - Diane Kindred commented: “We are really happy to support such a worthwhile community resource, and wish the centre and Timmy all the very best for the future”

SAVE WITH SOLAR ENERGY

Discover the Financial and Environmental benefits of Solar energy

The Feed-In Tariff, also known as FIT, became available in the UK on April 1 2010 and is the

electricity sector of the Clean Energy Cash Back scheme – a Government-backed scheme that pays people who create their own electricity using green technology including solar PV panels.

The Feed-In Tariff guarantees a minimum payment for all electricity generated by the system, as well as an additional payment for the unused electricity produced that can be exported to the grid. These payments will boost household savings as bills will be reduced by using electricity generated on-site.

The tariff is available to everyone. The amount of money you receive depends on the type and size of the system you use to generate the renewable energy. The good news is that the biggest payments come with solar PV panel technology. As well as the payment you receive for generation, an extra payment per Kilowatt hour of electricity produced that is exported to the grid will also be received.

According to the Government, these tariffs should cover the initial cost of the installation of the technology with a return of up to eight per cent. With solar PV panels installed, that means you should earn back the capital costs of the installation two or three times over the duration of the tariff as well as sufficiently reducing your bills.

For further information on how you can profit with solar energy contact Ben on 07747 808 432 or 0161 903 8800

Moss Park GardensFor those readers who do not yet know where

Moss Park Gardens is located, it’s on the busy corner of Moss Lane and Park Road. Go along and stroll around and see what has been achieved by a handful of local committed residents in the last 18 months, quite remarkable. The summer flowering plants are looking at their best at present. How long before the garden is smothered in leaves again from the beech trees ?

I recently enjoyed a relaxing weeks holiday near Kirbymoorside on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors. During the course of the week we visited Scampston House and Gardens near Malton, the National Trust property at Nunnington Hall and the best of all, Helmsley Walled Gardens. If you haven’t yet been you are missing a treat. The contrasting areas of the gardens include a pebbled garden, an orchard, raised allotment beds, a natural meadow, spectacular flower beds and even some hens ! When you have exhausted yourself taking in the gardens you must check out the Vinehouse organic café by the entrance. Don’t just take my word for how good their date slice is, test it yourself. These gardens are maintained for the most part by volunteers as Moss Park Gardens is but on a smaller scale. It’s amazing what can be achieved by committed volunteers.

The RHS judge visited Moss Park Gardens the last Monday of July and in a couple of month’s time we will know whether we have merited another North West in Bloom award.

In the meantime if you would like to make new friends and have fun maintaining MPG, then come and join us. Young or not so young, you will me made most welcome.

Aloe Vera For Optimum Health In Issue 12, I shared with you how Aloe Vera

had helped me. Here are some testimonies I have received from some of my clients.

SARAH’S STORY“I was on Steroids because I had been diagnosed with Osteo Arthritis in my hand. My fingers were swollen and painful. The medication I was given caused me to put on 2 stone in weight. Last August you suggested I tried the Aloe Vera Freedom drink and also the Heat Lotion and MSM.I am now symptom free and my hand is totally back to normal! No more drugs!”

JOHN’S STORY“Having had quite a lot of expensive bridge work done on my mouth over the last few years I recently developed an infection in my mouth and was prescribed antibiotics by my dentist. The problem remained and the dentist was considering taking out the bridgework, clearing the infection and then rebuilding the bridgework which would have been very expensive. On your recommendation I tried the Toothgel. I am delighted to tell you that shortly after starting to use the Forever BrightToothgel the infection has cleared and saved me several thousand pounds into the bargain!”

BABY LOUISE“When Louise developed Chicken Pox I dreaded the constant scratching. You suggested the Aloe First Spray and the Aloe Gelly. I used this and the results were great. Louise didn’t seem to be bothered by any irritation and didn’t scratch the spots.”The Aloe First has also provided relief for people suffering from Shingles.

F is For figsAlthough dried figs are available throughout the year, there is nothing like the unique taste and texture of fresh figs. They are lusciously sweet with a texture that combines the chewiness of their flesh, the smoothness of their skin, and the crunchiness of their seeds. Figs are a good source of potassium, a mineral that helps to control blood pressure. Since many people not only do not eat enough fruits and vegetables, but do consume high amounts of sodium as salt is frequently added to processed foods, they may be deficient in potassium. Low intake of potassium-rich foods, especially when coupled with a high intake of sodium, can lead to hypertension. Figs can trace their history back to the earliest of times with mentions in the Bible and other ancient writings. They are thought to have been first cultivated in Egypt.

Since fresh figs are one of the most perishable fruits, they should be purchased only a day or two in advance of when you are planning on eating them. Look for figs that have a rich, deep color and are plump and tender, but not mushy.

School of Life

I realised a long ago that most of us are connecting to and living

only a small percentage of who we really are. Invariably, carrying a majority our past within us, overshadowing and distorting the path of this life. I have treated and taught people who are living only 20% and less of their true potential. Affecting daily, including our relationships and interactions, it also influences our spiritual journey.

We are the net result of our past experiences, emotional impacts, fear and trauma. Additional we are a combination of events and emotional traumas from other lives, still affecting us now.

Promises and vows we make/made lock us into our history. Perhaps no longer valid, not serving us, but still holding us fast in belief and conditioning. Preventing manifestation and lack of funds, giving us a mind pattern and energetic vibration overshadowing and distorting this life.

Jettison the past through the Allonus, School of Life workshop; start living more of your true potential.

We love it when we hear from you

with feedback about the magazine, unfortunately we are not always able to publish the e-mails that you kindly send in, however, below is a letter we received that we would like to share. Thank you all for your continued support.

To Jordan and View Timperley, Thank you very much for all the support you have shown to Forget Me Not Bakery, a small home baking business. I advertised in Issue 11 and offered a competition prize of 12 cupcakes. The winner, Imogen Gornall, was very shocked but extremely pleased to have won.

Imogen said: Just wanted to say a big thankyou to View and Forget me not bakery...I won a dozen chocolate and vanilla cupcakes in your competition and was able to have them delivered in time for my daughter’s birthday so it was a real treat not to have to bake a cake myself for a change! The cakes were beautifully presented and tasted amazing..Just the right amount of sweetness and lovely light texture...I would certainly recommend them! Thanks again”

I would also like to add that the response I received from placing an advert with you has been very positive with satisfied customers coming back for more! I will definitely choose to advertise with you again. Once again thanks

• Wednesday mornings The Village Hall, Timperley

Fitness LeagueWhether you’re already used to exercising or

just starting to get active again, you’ll find a wide variety of activities on offer.. Our group classes are held in community and village halls, well away from the gym setting, which can be a bit daunting when you’re starting out.

Fitness League teachers are qualified to teach Bagot Stack, a technique aiming to improve posture and then keep that posture whilst moving, in the class, and as you go about your daily life. Bagot Stack is part dance, part exercise, focussing on central control to support the spine. We aim to build strength, not bulk, in the muscles, mobilise the joints, and most importantly lift the spirits

through the use of a variety of music. A Fitness League class is also a friendly, sociable way to exercise and have fun, which makes such a difference to keeping that healthy habit going.
