Last week we had the pleasure of welcoming back our

retired Head teachers, Mr Richardson and Mr Roach to

officially open our new junior building. Both told an

assembly of children, staff and governors about the

highlights of their time at Brampton, including a secret from

Mr Roach concerning our school lectern! Our school choir

and Year 4 drummers entertained our visitors during the

assembly. After officially cutting a ribbon to open the junior

extension our guests toured the whole school to marvel at

the huge new rooms and reminisced about how the school

has changed over the years. The children cant wait now to

show their parents the new build during our Book Look on

    Friday 13th at 2pm!

Brampton Primary is a restorative school where the initial response to conflict is to

find a solution where things are put right, the victims needs are met whilst also

meeting the needs of the wrong doer and meet all the schools responsibilities.

    MODERN FOREIGN LANGUAGE CLUBS

    Brampton BulletinPage 2

We are extremely fortunate here at Brampton with the number and variety of clubs on

offer to the children, both at lunch time and after school. For the last two years we have

had Spanish and Italian clubs, ran by volunteer teachers. Our own Mrs. Willoughby

runs Spanish club in Tuesday lunch times for year 5 and Mrs. Newman runs an Italian

club for year 4. Recently we have added French club for year 6, ran by an external

    volunteer teacher, Miss Synnott.

French is the language taught here at Brampton in key stage 2, as it is the most popular

MFL taught by local secondary schools, but Spanish is the compulsory language

taught at Harris, and many secondary schools offer children a second choice for

GCSE, including Italian, Spanish, Russian and Mandarin. Additionally, languages are

obviously useful for holidays and in certain careers.

All the clubs have the main emphasis on fun, with lots of verbal work, games andsongs, and each course has so far ended with a

cultural party in which traditional food of the

country is tasted, traditional games played, and

conversation is, where possible, in the target

language. All members seem to love these clubs,

judging by the feedback given by the children on

the evaluation forms. I have really loved French

club as everything we do is fun and interesting. And I have improved enormously. (Holly).

Spanish club was really good and Mrs.

    Willoughby made it fun and

interesting. (Arwen). Its really good to learn

how to speak another language and Mrs.

Newman gave us fun word searches to

do. (Waniya). Current years 3, 4 and 5 should

look out for news of these clubs next year!

    Parent Compliment

Miss Fisher has received a letter from Mrs Orchard complimenting the teaching in Year 3.

She referred to how much her son had grown in confidence and now says how excited he is

to come to school! During his 1:1 interview with Miss Wilson she told him to how impressed

she was with his work and that he was good at mathematics and needed to trust himself

more. After Parents Evening he was beaming. She also wrote Many thanks for all your hard

work. Hopefully when Ofsted come we will get an Outstanding!.
