Christ to love our enemies (Matthew 5:44-45a), to forgive others their trespasses (Matthew 6:14-15), to overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21), and to seek peace and pursue it (Psalm 34:14). Peacemak-ers are blessed and called the children of God (Matthew 5:9). Matthew 5:9 in The Message says, “You’re blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight. That’s when you discover who you really are, and your place in God’s family.” As a connectional church, we combine our re-sources so that we have a larger impact in the world. In 2019, United Methodist churches gave $433,437 toward min-istries funded by the Peace with Justice Sunday offering. Fifty percent of the offering remains in the annual conference to support local and regional jus-tice efforts, and 50 per-cent supports justice ministries through the General Board of Church and Society. Please prayerfully consider doing your part to promote peace and justice with your June 7 com-munion offering.

Communion Offering To Promote Peace with Justice Our June 7 communion offering will be for Peace with Justice Sunday, one of the six church wide Special Sundays of the United Methodist Church. In a world plagued by war, terror, violence, and

destruction, people of faith have a clear call to build peace with justice. It is fitting that Peace with Justice Sunday comes the first Sunday after Pente-cost. United Methodists celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit and the gift of Christian unity on Pente-cost Sunday. And on Peace with Justice Sunday, we recognize our baptismal and membership vows to resist evil, injustice, and oppression on behalf of

others. In simple terms, Peace with Justice Sunday calls the church to advocate on behalf of the vul-nerable and to remove systemic barriers that affect God's children at home and around the world. Scripture is consistent in the call for followers of

United Methodist Women

Walk to Emmaus An Upper Room Movement

Emmaus update:

The Coastal Bend Emmaus, looking down the road, has postponed its 2020 Walks to next year, 2021, with dates to be determined based on availability and how the retreat center regroups on the other side of this virus. But, we are hopeful, as our effort is to hold both our women’s and men’s Walks in summer 2021.
