27th of April 2016Dear Sir/Madame,

I am currently a student in Lasalle College of the Arts, Singapore. I am enrolled in level two of B.A. in Fashion Media and industries and majoring in fashion management. I did a certificate course in visual arts for a year and one year of B.A. in fashion designing. I am very much interested in interning with your company during my summer holiday, which is from the 1st of May till the 30th of July,2016. I am inclined towards fashion marketing, public relations, digi-tal visualization and styling. The internship would help me gain useful experience, honor work commitments and give me an opportunity to show my skills in the workspace.

During my winter vacation 2015 I had the opportunity to intern with Heads of State Millinery, Singapore. I managed the pop up store at TANGS (Orchard), Singapore and gained knowledge and understanding of retailing and visual merchandising. I helped in assisting product development and production. During my internship time with Heads of State Millinery , under the supervision of creative director, Chee SauFen, I learned to be time efficient and to multi-task. Working under a social innovation cause, I became sensitive towards the environment and the artisans. I understood the relevance and how we can make ethnic and traditional products contemporize to make people pur-chase products with good cause. I learned to communicate well with the customer and be a patient learner.

Over 2015 summer vacation I had the opportunity to intern with Harper’s Bazaar Bride, India. I was under the fashion team. During my internship I gained useful knowledge and taste on the Indian bridal fashion. I helped in the fash-ion editorial shoot for both men and women collection and even on the cover shoot. I was taught to source out garments for various shoots and maintain a good relation with the P.R. of different labels both internationally and nationally. Over this internship I had gained my interest towards Public relations because I feel that communication is something, which I am strong at.

Over the 2014 summer holidays, I had interned with an emerging Indian designer Riddhi Mehta. I helped her for the campaign shoot. During this time I learned how to be work efficient and to work smart during the limited time. It was a good experience and a great learning step towards my career goal.

I had also interned with an emerged blogger MISS MALINI from India. She is a well-known blogger who captures the glamour insight of Bollywood and the Indian fashion world and has her own T.V. show MISS MALINI WORLD. She gave me the opportunity to interview well know fashion designers like Manish Arora, Gaurav Gupta and Anju Modi. It was an amazing experience to interact with such talents.

A short course in visual arts helped me understand and gain knowledge about principles and elements of designing. It helped me understand professional work and take time management in consideration to be a better designer in future. I look forward to apply these skills in your company.

Over the months as a designing student I learned and developed a love for adobe and was always happy to work on illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. I understand that there is much more to it than just designing and realized that a finished garment gave me an opportunity to create something, which defined a part of me. I would be happy to learn something that would make me see more than I already see. I understand in my early days that a dress should always have a story to tell in order to sell.

I am confident in what I do and that’s what I strongly believe in. I am a sincere worker and a fast learner. I constantly seek to improve my skills. I will apply all my knowledge gained as a fashion communication, designing and visuals arts student in this industry and communicate effectively. I am passionate in learning more in my life and look for-ward to learn from you in future. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely, Ishita Das

FASHION EDITORIAL SPREAD FASHION PORTFOLIO

In this project, we were paired in a group and had to create a six page fash-ion editorial spread for a selected magazine. The magazine which we se-lected was i-D magazine. The theme of the fashion story was CAULDRON. It revolved around the idea of re-bir th af fecting witchcraft.

I was the make-up and hairstylist for this project.

FASHION PORTFOLIOSOCIAL INNOVATION PROJECT

This is a social innovation project, we were paired in a group of three and had to work with a community and help them through fashion. I am from As-sam, I bought in light for my other groupmates the problem my community is facing whom we have been involved for past three generation.

HIRANYA, meaning “Golden Deer” is a childrenswear label of fering hand-woven contempory silk white shir ts for girls and boys between the age of 6 and 10. Commercialization is the leading cause for the decrease in the ar t of weaving in the nor theastern state of Assam in India. Muga silk, also known as the “Golden Fiber” of Assam has become a dying ar t, we wish to establish a reliable platform for the sale of products made from the silk. The white shir ts are subtly adorned with traditional motifs in white as well as delicate white pearls and coconut shell buttons. Airy and itch-free, this fibre is per fectly suited for children in humid and bright Singapore. Through the sale of these products, the brand aims to preserve the ar t of Muga silk weaving and proved 40% of its sale to weavers wage.

FASHION PORTFOLIOREVAMPING

In this project, we were paired in a group and had to revamp an existing Singaporean brand MASH-UP. Our concept of the revamping was to col-laborate with Lego to make the target audience of the brand more flexible as it was one of the main concerned of the existing brand which needed to be addressed. Mash-N-Go is an exciting collaboration between Mash-Up and Lego.

I was the ar t director and the PR for this project.

FASHION PORTFOLIOSELF BRANDING

ISHITADAS In this project, we were to come up with self branding. With the help of my personal moodboard, I made my logo which is simple and minimalistic as it defines my personal aesthetic. Being a delicate and feminine person it was best for me to use colors like pink and blue as it describes me the best as a person. I made my own collaterals for my self-brand.

FASHION PORTFOLIODOLCE & GABBANA MOCK-UP

This is my visual merchandising mock up for Dolce & Gabbana. I tr ied my best to keep it true to its brand aesthetic. The collection which I decided to show case is the Spring-Summer 2016 which is inspired by the Italian vin-tage. Dolce & Gabbana expresses through emotions. Therefore the details in my mock up have a reflecting mirror where people can come closer and connect. It has details of vintage frame wooden work. The creepers give the wild and vintage look which can be seen on the walls of shop houses in Italy.

FASHION PORTFOLIOPHOTOGRAPHY

The two lef t side images are of my posing photography assignment. I tr ied my best to get the closest shot to the references picture keeping in mind the styling and all the design elements in consideration.

The right side images are showing two main types of lighting in photogra-phy. My strongest ability is not photography but I still practice as photogra-phy helps in conveying the final outcome forward.

FASHION PORTFOLIOMECH-ANIMAL

In this project, I had to manipulate the machine tools and par ts in photo-shop and create an animal. I made a flamingo mech-animal with the help of the baisc photoshop skills, which helped me understand photoshop better. I completed the project by packaging the mech-animal through a disc and a cover.
