WELCOME FROM THE PROGRAM LEADER
Mount Ridley P-12 College has a well-earned reputation of involvement in interschool
sport and has taken a step forward to develop an exclusive ‘Elite’ Program to further
develop the skills and knowledge of our high performing athletes. Our aim is to provide
students in the Elite Sports Program (ESP) with a pathway which leads them to success
both at the College and beyond. Personal success is a key value to the College and we
believe that academic performance flourishes when students are exposed to and
participate in enhancement and enrichment programs. Students involved in the program
are expected to be ‘Student Athletes.’ High expectations of academic success are
enforced to ensure our ‘Student Athletes’ reach their full potential in their curriculum
program as well as their sporting endeavours.

development and practical learning specific to their
selected sport.
AIMS OF THE PROGRAM

coaches and allied heath professionals. ACE Performance strive to maximize the potential of every athlete through
a comprehensive, well designed program that develops all of the vital components necessary in achieving athletic
excellence. The fundamental components taught are strength, speed, power, agility, flexibility/mobility and
endurance. The Strength and Conditioning aspect of the program also dedicates a large proportion of time on
rehabilitation; focusing on educating students about injury prevention and recovery. Students complete formalised
fitness testing at the beginning of the year and then again at the end of every term to monitor and assess their
individual performance needs and to expose students to aspects of the elite training environment.
Students in Years 9 and 10 integrate Strength and Conditioning into their mainstream Physical Education sessions
and utilise curriculum time to complete additional training. Students will also have a rotation of morning sessions in
the Elite Performance Centre (EPC), completing their personal Strength and Conditioning Program. Students in the
Junior Athlete Development Program (Years 7 and 8) utilise their after school training time to train this aspect of
