How might a Jewish person react to these laws/restrictions?
How might a German person react to these laws/restrictions?
What do you think was the atmosphere in Germany like at this time?
What was the purpose of the Nuremberg Laws?
What other laws do you know that have dehumanized people?
NUREMBERG LAWS Passed in 1935 2 different laws Law for the Protection of German Blood
and German Honor Jewish marriage
Reich Citizenship Law Stripped Jews of Citizenship
Defined who was a Jew Aryans Jews Mischlinge (mixed race)
ANOTHER NUREMBERG LAW Law for the Protection of the Genetic
Health of the German PeopleAll persons wanting to marry to submit to a
medical examination, after which a "Certificate of Fitness to Marry" would be issued if they were found to be disease free
The certificate was required in order to get a marriage license.
HOW DO WE TELL? The Nuremberg Laws had the
unexpected result of causing confusion and heated debate over who was a "full Jew."
The Nazis then issued instructional charts Jews from Mischlinge and Aryans. The white figures represent Aryans; the black figures represent Jews; and the shaded figures represent Mischlinge.
This photograph shows the public humiliation of a couple. The woman, who is non-Jewish, carries a sign reading “I am the greatest swine and sleep only with Jews.” The man's sign reads, “As a Jew, I only take German girls up to my room.”
