Do you know the candidates running for Mayor and City Council on election day
Saturday, April 13, 2013? A Meet the Candidates Night will be held at the Old New Castle Middle School auditorium on Wednesday, April 10th, 2013 from 6:45 to 8:30 pm. Please be prompt. It's free and open to all the residents of the City of New Castle. The format for the evening is a Q and A forum where questions submitted by the audience to a moderator will be asked of all of the candidates. Think of the issues and questions you have about the city, the dykes, Battery Park, the parking on city streets, taxes, city funding, flooding, storm water management, crime, etc. Become informed! Ask pertinent questions! This is your opportunity to ask specific questions that all the candidates will have the same amount of time to answer. The more you know about what each candidate thinks about issues facing the city and the residents, the better you will be able to make an insightful decision of the persons you elect to represent you and your neighborhood on the 13th.Please come with your questions clearly written on 3x5 cards or on a sheet of paper. They will be collected at the door. Or, you may send your questions Meet the Candidates 54 E 4th St., or 26 E 3rd Street in New Castle, DE 19720 in advance of the evening. Blank cards will be available at the door.

Losing stuffstinks!
As we emerge from the grey days of a so-so winter; spring and summer travel plans are right around the corner. You may need some new stuff. Buying a new phone is expensive, losing your keys can be a problem on so many fronts, and losing a wallet can be disastrous. In short, losing something of value can be costly and just a real inconvenience. Now there’s Bungeetags. Here’s how they work, The system is activated by sending a simple text message and works instantly to place the owner and finder in a live anonymous conversation so that retrieval arrangements can be made immediately. This has not been done before. The easier and faster it is to do the right thing, the more likely it is that the person will take action. It is the simplicity, speed, and direct live conversation, which make Bungee different and innovative.
See how Bungeetags work: ▶ Lost & Found
Sat., April 4th-6th, at Old Town Hall, on the Willingtown Campus of the DHS at 6th and Market streets in Wilm. There’s a “Buy-It-Now” price for each piece, allowing an immediate purchase without the risk of being overbid. But any lesser amount will be considered, including an increase over a previous offer.
Donors Elisa and Dick Poole will be the sole judges of when to accept an offer, or to retain any painting if a sufficient bid is not forthcoming.

Celebrating 150 Years!New Castle United Methodist Church was founded in 1820. The church they worship in now was built in 1863 - during the Civil War. Join in the commemorative service, Sun., April 14th at 10am. The sermon will be about the times, and the people of New Castle, who took on this huge
undertaking. There will be Civil War re-enactors from Ft. Delaware in attendance at this service Members of the church have been encouraged to come dressed in the period we’re celebrating. Pastors from the past thirty years have been invited to attend this celebration.
Barbecue BiscuitsLet’s make these!Dump a lb of ground beef into a pan and start browning it. Ground beef is so versatile and very friendly. It’s pretty yummy too!
While the beef is browning, let’s make the sauce. Again, nothing
fancy, this is just homemade sloppy joe sauce. You can’t go wrong with sloppy joe sauce. Mix your sauce together and dump it into the pan of cooked ground beef and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. Told ya this was simple.
While the meat is simmering, grab your muffin tin. I always use regular sized muffins, but you can use a mini muffin tin.
Grab a can of refrigerator biscuit dough and roll each biscuit into a ball. Flatten it out and press it into the muffin tins so that you have a little bowl shape. If you are using a mini muffin tin, use a half biscuit for each muffin.
Spoon as much as will fit into each biscuit and bake at 375º for about 10 minutes. You can bake a little longer and they’ll get a bit crunchy. Now put 'em on a tray and serve with pride!

Dyngus Day Mon., April 1st is the day after Easter, and often features Easter egg rolls. It is not a federal holiday in the US, but is in other
cultures, including Poland where it is called Dyngus (Splash) Day, when children traditionally play water games.
Historically a Polish-American tradition, Dyngus Day celebrates the end of the often restrictive observance of lent and the joy of Easter. Over the decades, Dyngus Day has become a wonderful holiday to celebrate Polish-American culture, heritage and traditions. ➨2013 Dyngus Day

Eric Ziminsky was recently informed that his design for the 2013 Festival program book cover was selected as The Peoples’ Choice award winner during the Festival’s opening reception on March 6, 2013 at the Delaware Museum of Art.Jim Donahue, Executive Director of the 2013 MidAtlantic Wine + Food Festival said “Your design uniquely captured the spirit and soul of the Festival and clearly resonated with the hundreds of Festival fans who attended the reception”. Donahue was delighted with the caliber of the work from all the students at the Delaware College of Art and Design. Eric’s entry stood above the others and a copy of his winning piece is displayed in the Festival offices.

The Trial of Sven Skute
A play by David Price
In 1655 Fort Casimir, also known as Fort Trinity, was controlled by the New Sweden government under the command of Captain Sven Skute. He was forced to surrender the fort to Peter Stuyvesant and the Dutch. Come hear the true account of what happened here in 1655 at Ft. Casimir/Trinity and Captain Skute’s story.
