QUESTIONS ABOUT DUAL ENROLLMENT OFTEN ASKED

What is the difference between DE and AP/IB?

Dual Enrollment students are• Enrolled in a college class• Course credit is earned for successfully

completing the class• Students have access to VWCC

resources• Grading is based on all work completed

in the course• Grades and materials are retained

locally

AB, CLEP and IB credit is awarded if:• The student chooses to take the end of

the year examination• Earns a score that is accepted at the

post-secondary school they plan on attending (AP - 3-5) (IB 5 – 7)

• If a student does not take the exam, no college credit is given for work completed in the course.

college degree• More likely to complete a

college degree or industry credentials

•Courses are rigorous and students can get in over their heads•Colleges expect maturity and

responsibility• Poor grades stay (and follow) the

student forever•Grades can affect college

admission and financial aid•Can affect the HS GPA
