The meaning of perishables ?
• Perishables
– Goods that loose value in a relative quick time frame
• To be successful in Perishables we need to master:
– “Time and Temperatures”– However the real question is , how do we master? Time: as fast
as possible, and Temperature: right and steady through out or during the transportation

Products classed as perishables
• Many of these products require special handling and are not compatible with each other they share the same basic characteristics of sensitivity to Time, Temperature and Treatment. They include:
• Seafood Pharmaceuticals/Medicines• Dairy• Flowers/Plants/• Meats • Vegetables• Fruits

– Perishables are seasonal– Perishables don’t pay– Perishables was a by product– Many Claims – A lot of waste
But without perishables certain rotations will not be possible

Environmental Control System
• Aircon in Main Deck always on
• Switching on Aircon in the 2 bellies:⇒+0.7% Fuel Burn
• Main Deck and Bellies always pressurized => 750hPa
• Airflow per ULD in Bellies (352CFM) are higher than in Main Deck (122CFM)⇒Bellies cool down faster than Main Deck⇒Bellies better for large amounts of animals
• B747-400F and B747-400BCF identical! Or Passenger but… Cool Chain association 23rd -
