The Dalai Lama: Scientist

El último elegido, el Dalai Lama es un hombre que por destino tiene la responsabilidad de ser y encarnar un alma recurrente, un espíritu sabio y es el líder espiritual de una congregación de hombres que decidieron seguir las enseñanzas budistas. El Dalai Lama es a los monjes tibetanos como lo es el Papa a los feligreses católicos. Una personalidad que ya tiene la importancia histórica necesaria para que cualquier iniciativa o suceso en torno a este maestro religioso sea grabado como documento para la historia humana, sus culturas y religiones.

Este documental no merece un análisis técnico cinematográfico sino un reconocimiento del valor histórico y humanista que tiene el contenido; unas clases maestras donde la filosofía y la ciencia occidental se permite hacer un conversatorio para establecer comparación entre la ciencia occidental y la ciencia budista, con extraordinarias coincidencias que les permite a la ciencia tomar preceptos que están relacionados con las emociones y en su humanidad misma.

Los cuatro o cinco capítulos como fue dividido este documental nos muestra un panorama biográfico del Dalai Lama y su interés y curiosidad por conocer y relacionar el budismo con la ciencia.

El montaje está coherente y rítmicamente acorde, el uso del narrador y los testimonios de los científicos y el Dalai permiten una lectura hilada e interesante que engancha en la forma narrativa.

Documental biográfico con elementos históricos, desarrolla un montaje basado en archivos lo que hace que el formato no sea homogéneo, al parecer fue grabado por distintos tipos de cámaras, principalmente de televisión en una relación de aspecto de 4:3 y baja resolución.

No hay una concepción estética pensada para los encuadres ni para la ambientación, porque es evidente que lo primordial es el registro del evento y los encuentros con los científicos.

El tiempo diegético es una construcción de varios momentos en un tiempo real prolongado.

El crédito lo tiene el montaje y el contenido.

La forma como es narrado es eficiente ya que une el off/on de algunos participantes con la voz narradora de la obra total.

The Dalai Lama: Scientist

The last elected, the Dalai Lama is a man who by destiny has the responsibility of being and embodying a recurring soul, a wise spirit and is the spiritual leader of a congregation of men who decided to follow the Buddhist teachings. The Dalai Lama is to Tibetan monks as is the Pope to Catholic parishioners. A personality that already has the historical importance necessary for any initiative or event around this religious teacher to be recorded as a document for human history, their cultures and religions.

This documentary does not deserve a technical film analysis but a recognition of the historical and humanistic value of the content; Some master classes where Western philosophy and science are allowed to make a conversation to establish a comparison between Western science and Buddhist science, with extraordinary coincidences that allow science to take precepts that are related to emotions and in their own humanity.

The four or five chapters as this documentary was divided shows us a biographical panorama of the Dalai Lama and his interest and curiosity in knowing and relating Buddhism to science.

The montage is coherent and rhythmically consistent, the use of the narrator and the testimonies of the scientists and the Dalai allow a spinning and interesting reading that engages in the narrative form.
