IPSC Basketball Boys (Under 19) Tournament 2016 was successfully conducted from 30th September 2016 to 5th October 2016 as per the guidelines issued by the SGFI. There were 17 teams from various schools which participated in the mega event. The coveted trophy was won by Modern School, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi, the runner up position by L K Singhania Education Centre, Gotan, Rajasthan. The third runner up of the tournament was DPS, R K Puram, Delhi. Adnan Ashraf of XII A of MS was selected for the SGFI U - 19 Basketball Team. To inspire and infuse the students with the core values of the Ramayana, a special assembly was held in the Primary Wing on 10 October, 2016. The day began with contemplation of the significance of the day by Ms. Narendar Kaur, class in charge of KG. The students of KG and Nursery presented glimpses of Ramayana and recited some couplets. They enacted various scenes from the birth of lord Ram, his marriage with Sita, abduction of Sita and the killing of Ravana. It was a good show. The school organized its Annual Athletic Meet from 13 to 16 October. The colourful event received overwhelming participation and enthusiasm from students who eagerly looked forward to three days of spirited competition. The meet commenced with the marchpast followed by the oath taking ceremony led by the sports captains Master Roger and Ms. Swati. The first day comprised of track events such as 100m and 200m heats, 1500m followed by the relay races. IPSC Basketball Boys (Under 19) Tournament 2016 was successfully conducted from 30th September 2016 to 5th October 2016 as per the guidelines issued by the SGFI. second day. The tug of war between Vyas House and Dayanand House proved to be a delight to watch on the field. Shivam Gupta, E. Kishan and Toko Indira were declared the best athletes of the year in senior, junior and girls' division respectively. Buddha House stole the

show and won the athletics trophy.

The House positions were: Buddha First Dayanand Second and Vyas secured the third position.

IPSC Band Competition was held in L. K. Singhania Education Centre, Gotan, Rajasthan. A total of 8 schools participated in the competition. 37 students of classes IX - XII participated from our school.

The Mann School got the ISA - Action Plan registered for ISA 2017 - 18. The Action Plan briefing was held at the Surya, on 25th October, 2016. The meeting was held to discuss how to go for the action plan and what other changes were introduced in the format of the action plan. Mrs. Shashi Pant, headmistress, and Mrs. Vijayalakshmi, ISA coordinator, attended the meeting.

Times of India conducted National Aptitude Challenge - 2016, a test for the students of classes 6 - 10, to check the general awareness and IQ level of students. The school conducted the NIE in two categories (1) class 6 - 8 and (2) class 9 - 10. Most of our students participated in it wholeheartedly.

The mega event was held at the beautifully decorated swimming pool of the school. There were 21 schools from all over the country which participated in the closely fought annual event. All the participants proved their mettle in the field of vocabulary, especially in pronunciation, spelling, meaning and sentence construction. Gaurav Bidalia of Ahlcon International School, Delhi became the winner of the Master - 26.

For the first time the students of MS participated in the All India IPSC Athletic Meet, which was held at Punjab Public School, Nabha. More than three thousand students from 30 different schools participated in the mega event. There were various track and field events where most of the students actively competed with high sprit. Students from MS proved their worth in the qualification rounds and performed well in the heats. In Under 14 "time trial girls division", Sneha Mann -of class VII C stood first in 200 meter sprint. It was a first time exposure for the students.

The Inter House Band Competition saw all three Houses play their instruments with great zeal and enthusiasm. In total, 21 tunes were played by them. Dayanand House won the trophy for the 4th consecutive year. Hamza Bukhari of Dayanand House

was adjudged as the Best Band Major of the year. House positions were: Dayanand First, Budha Second, Vyas Third.

It was a golden opportunity for the tiny tots to shimmer and shine like divas by participating in the Fancy Dress Competition held on 12 November, 2016.

It was a great delight to watch the students from Nursery to Class II dress up in vibrant costumes portraying different characters like Snow White and Rapunzel. The students looked bright and bubbly with energy as the King of Fruits (mango), Uncle Chips, Noodles etc. Some of the participants highlighted social issues like Save Girl Child, Save Water, Child Labor and Clean India.

The students of classes III to V enthralled everyone with their dance presentation on the theme 'Unity in Diversity'.

The Principal awarded the winners with prizes and certificates. The result of the Fancy Dress Competition was as follows:

'Gurpurab', also known as Guru Nanak's 'Prakash Utsav' was celebrated traditionally in the Center for Performing Arts of the School. As the name signifies, candles were lit to expel darkness of ignorance with knowledge and cultivating serenity in heart and soul. It was followed by lighting of the lamp in front of the image of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Speeches, in both Hindi

and English, were delivered by the faculty of the school. Thereafter, hymns were recited in chorus by the students of the school which made the environment calm and composed.

The words of wisdom uttered by the Principal explained the need of remaining patient in all spheres and strides of life. With the distribution of 'prasad' the festivity of Gurpurab culminated.

The students of Primary Wing wrapped up a successful International Education Week from 14 to 18 November, 2016 by a program "Make time for 4 languages" by the British Council to promote the love for languages.

The students of grades KG to III enjoyed learning to count from 1 to 10 in varied languages, viz., French, German, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese.

Reunions are a special time to revisit favorite memories, - - - and create new ones.

On Saturday, November 26, 2016, MS turned into a virtual time machine. The ex-students who had once

tottered around in the premises decades ago, were immediately transported into a world where they were school students again. They had gathered in the campus to attend a reunion to rekindle old friendships, see what's new on campus and reconnect with the alma mater. The atmosphere was magical as the old students from different batches were present and enjoying and meeting one another after a long time.

The day took pace with a basketball match between old and new students. A lot of thrill and winning spirit on both ends was a moment to witness and applaud for the audience. It was followed by a formal gathering in the evening where seniors were welcomed by their juniors.

After a short cultural programme, including dance, skit and individual performances, the agenda of the meeting was taken up and discussed.

28th 'Celebration of Excellence' was a legacy, resplendent and august, carried forward in the year 2016 as well. The young and dynamic children upheld the pride of their institution and got an opportune time to show their various talents and skills, what they are and what they shall be.

The Celebration of Excellence began with the flag hoisting by the Chief Guest - Prof. S. Rajarajan followed by a guard of honor. The school's ambience

breathed discipline and co-ordination of the students in the marchpast by all the Houses and the NCC troop. The School Captain Master Anurag Ranjan commanded the parade which was followed by band display.

Thereafter, the School's achievements were presented in the form of School Report by the Principal Cdr. V.K. Banga.Young gymnasts of the School demonstrated their strength, balance, and body control in various exercises.Captivating tunes of MS Orchestra -

MAPSOMUSE - made the audience spellbound. The presence of the old students of the school was a true inspiration to the young Mapsians.

The potential of students in various fields was recognized and rewarded with shields, cups and

trophies. An excellent horse show was followed by a cultural show of music, dance and rhythm on the theme of Unity in Diversity. Before the culmination of the grandeur, students were felicitated for their phenomenal performances in various activities performed in the school, followed by the blessings of the Chief Guest.

The presence of parents was a source of inspiration and encouragement for the students as it boosted their morale and self-confidence.

In short, the annual day proved to be a day to exemplify excellence of the Mann School in every field academics, sports, adventure and discipline.

Inter house Tennis Tournament was held from 9th to 12th December 2016. All three Houses played the matches with great zeal and enthusiasm. There was a tough competition between the rivals and the participants competed with full confidence to win.

The Primary Wing celebrated "Shakespeare Lives in School", a global program of British Council. The activities showcased the world's most popular playwright's work on his 400th death anniversary.

A special assembly was organized by the students of grades III to V on 13 December, 2016. Famous quotes of the Bard were presented by Lakshay Khatri, Amandeep Singh, Daksh Mann and Hemant Kumar of grade III A. It was a learning experience for the students to enact the poem "Seven Ages" by Shakespeare. The famous court scene of the "The Merchant of Venice" was staged with gusto by the students of grade V and the English teachers.

As a part of the celebration of Remembering the Bard, the 400th death anniversary of William Shakespeare, Mr. P S Paul and Mr. C. P. Davis participated in a workshop-cum-quiz competition conducted at India International Centre, Delhi on 8 December 2016 by the Xpress Minds Edutainment Pvt. Ltd. The workshop was informative and very interesting.

Before dispersing for the winter break, it was a celebration time for the tiny tots on the eve of Christmas with love and gaiety on 17 December, 2016.

The day witnessed varied activities performed by students from Nursery to class V. They danced merrily with their hearts out to the tune of famous Christmas songs. The choir deservedly got a big pat on their back melodious carol singing. Everyone was happy to know the significance of candy cane, bells, stars etc, which was explained well by classes IV and V.

The science and art exhibition for the year 2016 was held on 21st and 22nd of December. Students displayed their scientific and creative skills in the form of various models and working projects like wireless charging of electric buses, power break, hybrid cars, tracing the lost missing vehicles, smart featured fan, air compression engine.

The models of black hole, phases of moon and weight of different planets presented by the Celestial Club were appreciated by visitors. Social Science section exhibited various models on rivers, waterfalls, lifestyles of early men, coastal land forms, rural and urban settlement, tsunami, and windmill. An important part of

the Exhibition was the book fair which attracted good crowds. Browsing of fiction, GK, biographies and educational titles apart, students purchased their favourite books in good numbers.

The exhibition was visited by a large number of parents and students. They were all highly taken up by the efforts put in by the students to organize a grand show. The exhibition on illusion drew attention from most of the visitors.

On the last day of the year - 31st of December 2016 at around 10.30 pm the entire school campus gathered at the skating rink to celebrate and welcome the New Year 2017. The bonfire was presided over by the principal Cdr. VK Banga. Students of classes XI and XII presented cultural programs including singing and dancing. Everyone felt the warmth and enthusiasm of the fast approaching midnight hour of the New Year 2017. When it came all embraced the New Year by cutting the cakes, bursting the crackers and a vociferous DJ dance. The Principal blessed the gathering by sharing the New Year greetings.
