IOW Tours

Big Weekender 2012

Spotlight on Host: Justine Brown

Big Weekender: Pakefields, Suffolk Once upon time in a far

flung corner of a green and

pleasant land, two giants of

Line Dance joined forces

with IOW Tours for one

spectacular event.

Helped along by 7 magical

bands and the IOW Tours ugly sisters Oli & Jason, a

fantastical weekend of Line

Dance was created that

would be talked about across

the land…

This was no Fairy Tale

though, for in May this year

the fabulous Tina Argyle and

legendary Mel & Lisa Fisher

took Pontins Pakefields by

absolute storm. Several

hundred Line Dancers from

across the country were entertained by some of UK’s

best live acts Kelly McCall,

Paul Taylor, Chris James, Plain

Loco, The Thrillbillies and, of

course, the oh so talented

Natalie.

The fancy dress theme for the

S a t u r d a y n i g h t w a s

‘’Eurovision’’ and the array of

patriotic costumes and flags

was a sight not to be

forgotten. With a new dance

choreographed and taught by

Tina to Abba’s Waterloo,

everyone got into the spirit of

true Eurovision madness.

Mel and Lisa held the

a f ternoon st age w i th

beginners partner dance

tuition, with the weekend's

mornings tuition covering

One Night At A Time, Love

Letter Waltz, Blarney Roses,

1929, Soda Pop, Borderline,

Normans Stroll and Lover

Please Come.

Club’s in attendance included

the fabulous JD’s London,

Orpington based Rolling Vine,

the (almost) local Laughter

Lines, and a whole army of

our regulars from the

Eastbourne area brought

together by Maurice Sargent.

The fun didn't stop on the

Sunday either! For our Grand

Finalé we staged a Day-Glo

party that would prove to

g i v e t h e B l a c k p o o l

Illuminations a run for their

money.

Ending with EVERYONE on

the floor to dance the Hokey

Cokey, this was a party

weekend of Line Dance which

has become a true IOW

Tours legend! Join us for our

next Big Weekender in

Weston-super-Mare as we

once again join forces with

Tina Argyle and take over the

new Grand Pier!

17-20th May 2013 prices from

£169.00 including Coaching

was reliably informed she had

no rhythm, two left feet and

would never make a dancer.

Confidence shattered she

didn't dance for some time to

come.

Luckily for us, she decided to

give it another go, this time at

Dymchurch’s Red Bandana

Club. A warm welcome

inspired her to persevere,

practising countless hours in

her kitchen between class.

Today, Justine is more

popular than ever. Her Line

Dance club Spirit of the South,

based in Ashford, boasts up to

150 members. She has well

over a dozen published Line

Dances to her name including

Calling Memphis currently

ranked in the top 30 of the

Line Dancer chart.

Justine Brown is not a lady

that can be pushed around.

She has got to the top

through pure grit and

determination, cheating

death itself in pursuit of

her Line dancing dream.

Living testimony to

A l be r t E i n s t e i n ' s

observation that genius

i s o ne p er c en t

inspiration and ninety

n i n e p e r c e n t

perspiration, Justine set

her heart on becoming

a success and never

looked back. Despite ill

-health, she has stuck

to her guns and emerged

triumphant.

Her initial foray in to Line

Dance wasn’t too successful,

when on her first night she

J u s t i n e ’ s c o u r a g e ,

perseverance and zest for life

fully shines through in all that

she does and IOW Tours

loves her spirit and the wit

she brings to any Line Dance

Weekend.

As always, we will let Justine

have the last word …

"I just hope that people will

see that it is possible the

achieve the seemingly

impossible - even with two

left feet and no rhythm - if a

challenge arises take it, with

both hands, Love with all your

heart, keep your friends and

loved ones close, as they are

your pillow if you fall.

Keep on dancing folks, You

never know where

it will take you."

zest for

life shines

pad for 2 new dances written to

commemorate the 15 years of

happy dancing by the Borderline

dancers. Jo had previously (and

secretly) asked Tina to

choreograph a dance to surprise

Paul with during the weekend

and had sent the track “So you

don’t have to love me anymore”

by Alan Jackson. Tina came up

with a lovely nightclub two-step

dance entitled “Borderline”.

This was welcomed by the

Borderliners as was another

super new dance written by Paul

entitled “All our Love” to “Make

you feel my love” by Adele.

Both songs were very emotive

and there were tears (of joy) on

the dance floor when they were

introduced. Both dances are

posted on the Linedancer

Magazine website.

The weekend proved to be a

confirmation of Borderline’s

f r iend ly and we lcoming

attitude. It turned out to be a

proper celebration of our club’s

mantra to enjoyment (not

perfection), tolerance and

appreciation of all members.

The hotel was excellent and the

tour provider (IOW Tours Ltd)

delivered, as usual, a great

weekend. We look forward to

the next 15 years and enjoyable

weekends away together.

Jo Barrow - Borderline Scuffers

An IOW Tours weekend of

total fun and frolics was recently

enjoyed by 77 members of the

Borderline Scuffers Line Dance

Club from Weymouth in

Dorset. Paul and Jo Barrow have

been running this popular club

for 15 years and a hilarious

celebration was the order of the

weekend at the Channel View

Hotel on the Isle of Wight.

Aided and abe t ted by

choreographer Tina Argyle, the

celebrations included karaoke,

teaching sessions, shopping,

walks by the sea and swimming

in the hotel’s superb pool.
