AbstactIn this study, the performance and emission characteristics of a direct injection diesel engineusingcoconut oil biodieselwere investigated. For this aim, coconut oil was converted to its biodiesel viatransesterificationapproach. Then, theeffects of thebiodieselpercentage inblend, engine load,andspeedonbrakepower,brakespecificfuelconsumption(BSFC),nitrogenoxides(NOx),carbondioxide(CO2),carbonmonoxide(CO),andparticlematter(PM)havebeenconsidered.Fuelblendswithvariouspercentages of biodiesel ( %0 - %3 ) at various engine speeds and loadswere tested. The results
indicatedthatblendsofcocunutwithdieselfuelprovideadmissibleengineperformance;ontheotherside,emissionsdecreasedsomuch
