People move to new places for lots of different reasons and have been doing so for thousands of years.

INVADERS SETTLERS

Invaders are people who use force to enter a place and take over, usually with an army.

Settlers are people who go to live in a place, with the aim of staying there

permanently.

The Romans were a group of people who belonged to the Roman Empire. The city of Rome, in Italy, was the centre of this empire. The Roman Empire was very powerful, with a huge army, which they used to fight people and increase the amount of land over which they ruled.

This is a map showing the Roman Empire at the height of its power. All of the land in red was ruled over by the Romans.

until 410 AD.

To work out exactly how long ago the Romans invaded Britain, you would need to complete this number sentence:

To work out approximately how many of your lifetimes this would be, you would need to complete this number sentence:

2000 divided by your age (you might need to use a calculator!)

For example, if you are 8 years old:2000 ÷ 8 = 250

This means that you would have to live your lifetime 250 times to show how much time has

passed since the Roman invasion in 43 AD!
