Summary Word Processing programs are sued to type reports, letters, and
tables. There are many differences between typewriters and computers with
word-processing programs. Word-processing programs show all formatting on the screen, which
is called WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) The Title Bar shows the name of the document and the name of the
program used to create it. There are many ways to move around inside a document. Text can be selected with the mouse or with the keyboard. When the cursor automatically goes to the next line if a word doesn’t
fit, it is called word wrap. You can customize your document on a computer. The Insert tab of the Ribbon contains short-cuts for changing the
appearance of your text.

The ruler is measured in inches. The blinking line that shows where your text or object will be
inserted is called the cursor. To move very quickly to the end of the document, you can press Ctrl
and End. To move quickly to the left margin, press Home. Holding Ctrl while clicking anywhere within a sentence will select the
entire sentence. If you want to change the name of the document and still keep the
original document, you should use the Save As command. When text is selected, it is encased in a light blue background. You can select an entire paragraph by triple-clicking on it. A header is text that appears at the top of every page of a
document.
