Business model: We employ a ‘value enhancement’ business model by partnering

with private sector, development agencies and public sector to support value chains

holistically. We consider value chains to be units that must be supported by looking at

the weakest links within their interconnected units and actors to make them work for

the vulnerable sustainably through commercialization within the interconnected units

What we bring to the table

Relationship and experience

with local, regional and

international development

agencies in the agribusiness

space

Being a resident organization in the

region working to facilitate

agricultural value chain

strengthening, AfriFoods has had

the unique opportunity to work with

many development agencies in the

counties of operation and beyond,

thus uniquely placed to provide

insights on development models

and financing mechanisms suited

to small agribusinesses in Kenya.

We have partnered with at least 6

major multilateral agencies to

support agribusiness in these

regions among them; SNV, UN,

IFAD, EU and USAID.

Relevant value-chain focused

technical and local experience

in localization of professional

services within market systems

Our consulting division has strong

capabilities across various

agriculture and agribusiness related

specialties. We have strong teams

with decades of experience in

program with capacity in business

and financial management,

entrepreneurship, access to

finance, insurance for agribusiness

and gender mainstreaming. Over

80 SMEs were linked to various

financing mechanisms.

Quality assurance and a widely

consultative approach in service

provision.

We have over time built systems and

capabilities towards strengthening

delivery for impact. We understand

that the Kenyan market has a

developed agro-industry co-existing

alongside marginalized producers

living at the subsistence level. Our

aim therefore, is to support

development actors in intermediating

to integrate these small

agribusinesses into main-stream

value chains with the goal of long-

term sustainability and efficiency. We

will work with you to achieve this end.

We can rapidly access and deploy

required skills in any technical area

towards value chain support within
