Anti-oxidant Activity

• Generally, the cultured cells have higher anti-oxidant activity compared with other plant cells in order to prevent themselves from being harmed by oxidant stresses of free radicals. Yew Ddobyul has 33.6 times higher CAT* activity than other cultured cell lines.

Anti-cancer Ac-tivity

UHIST proved that yew Ddobyul is non-toxic and has a strong anti-cancer effect through in-vivo & in-vitro experiments per-formed with the advice of Professor Ho-geun Lee of Jeonbuk Uni-versity.

• Anti-cancer in-vivo test w/ yew Ddobyul: Ddobyul treated (oral intake) mice’s tumors weighted approximately 10 times less than the controlled sub-jects. Tumor tissue examination results confirmed that Ddobyul cell line induced cancer cell apoptosis and angiogenesis inhibition.

• Anti-cancer in-vitro test w/ yew Ddobyul: Large intestine cancer, oral cavity carcinoma, lung cancer, prostatic carcinoma, bone cancer, leukemia, uterine carcinoma, skin cancer, pancreas cancer, breast can-cer, stomach cancer, kidney cancer and liver cancer cells were tested dur-ing in-vitro experiment. In comparison to the blockbuster drug ingredient, paclitaxel, Ddobyul cells, which didn’t contain paclitaxel, exhibited simi-lar or more potent anti-cancer capabilities. Although Ddobyul contains multiple compounds, its anti-cancerous suppressive power was no less than paclitaxel, a single substance anti-cancer drug.

methanol extract has shown strong anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting expression of in-

flammatory cytokines.

Immune Enhancement

Through research collaboration with professor Sang-yun Nam of Jeonju University, Unhwa Biotech Corp. has found that the wild ginseng Ddobyul greatly in-creases the activity of the NK cell*. It also induces bone marrow cell / lymph node cell proliferation and helps boost the overall hematogenous function and immune system.• After injecting an antigen, the mouse was supplemented with Ddobyul in a 1:20 ratio(free-choice feeding) for 10 days. The NK cell activity was ap-proximately 1.5 times greater than the mouse that was not supple-mented with Ddobyul.

• The mice supplemented with feed(free-choice feeding) mixed with Ddobyul had almost twice the number of bone marrow cells com-pared with the mice that were supplemented with only feed. The bone marrow cells produce the main compartments of blood; red blood cells, platelets etc. and can differentiate to immune cells; B cells, T cells etc. The bone marrow cell proliferation signifies the acceleration of the hematogenous function and improvement of the immune system.

• Cells of lymph node increased in the mice that were supplemented with the feed mixed with Ddobyul. Most of cells in the lymph node are T cells and the increase of the cells is the first response to antigen recognition. As antigen-specific T cells increase, other immune responses following T cell-increase are anticipated.

Through collaborative research with a cosmet-ics company with R&D expertise, Unhwa Biotech Corp. has veri-fied that Ddobyul has an outstanding efficacy on the skin. Ddobyul has anti-aging effect to block the very cause of aging. The patent applied on wild ginseng de-
