Our history. Land was acquired for our Strzelin plant in 2006 and production started soon after, with manufacture of our e-GS 4” submersible pumps and our versatile PLM range of electric motors in December 2007.

Capacity at the plant enabled additional pump and motor ranges to come online, including the LW range of submersible motors in 2008, e-SV pump components in 2010 and the Z range of submersible pumps in 2013.

In 2014 the site was significantly expanded to meet demand for additional pump and motor products in the Xylem portfolio. Strzelin now comprises 17,187 sq mtrs of space and employs over 160 people.

In 2015 production of our ecocirc XL and XL plus circulators, e-LNE/LNT and e-NSC pumps commenced in Strzelin.

Testing facilities.

1110

Our Strzelin plant has state-of-the-art pump testing facilities that enable us to test the full range of motor and pump types and sizes we manufacture. This includes verification of electrical, hydraulic and mechanical performance for reliable operation. We strictly adhere to industry standards ISO9001:2008 and ISO14001:2008, as well as our own Xylem procedures and Hydraulic Institute guidelines to ensure accurate and consistent test results.Full train testing capabilities assure the mechanical integrity of the full pumping train, providing confidence that the equipment will function properly in the field. The train tests typically include a full mechanical run simulating field conditions such as start up, variable speed operation, shut down, etc.Every pump test, for example, is documented with a test report that includes a performance curve indicating flow and head with optional NPSHR, noise, temperature, and vibration data. All calibration records for equipment used in testing are available for inspection.

Testing tolerances:Electric test stations for motors (different types and ranges) – up to 130 kW. HV test (up to 5 kV), phase resistance, power consumption, winded coils parameters (for chosen stations) according to IEC60034-1

Hydraulic test stations:4” borehole pumps station6” borehole pumps station8-12” borehole pumps station with possibility to manage witness test and provide test reports according to ISO9606 (max power 92 kW)

Test area:Max flow: 350 m3/hMax kW: 130 kWMax voltage: 400 VMax pressure: 600 mDepth of sub testing tank: 5 m

Customized testing: Hardness, torque and angle screw drivers (all pneumatic) are inspected according to automotive standards Cp and Cpk, with color inspection via colorimeter providing reliable consistency of color in production and processing operations, paint thickness for different surfaces, leakage test detection (air and water)

Vibration test by accelerometer for all motors produced.

Engineering capabilities:Lowara Vogel Polska is one of very few companies around the world to produce canned motors with wet rotor technology. With smooth and wear-free ceramic plain bearing technology, and high permissible media temperatures, these drives can also be used in many other applications. On the basis of this technology, there is no need for a slip ring seal or magnetic clutch. This increases efficiency and reduces the product costs.

Product portfolioEnvironment, Safety and Health Management System.

1312

Our Strzelin plant operates the Xylem Environment, Safety & Health (ESH) Management System, which was developed to conform to:• the ISO14001 standard for environmental management• the OHSAS 18001 and ANSI Z10 standards for occupational health and safety. Our online Metrics for Environment, Safety & Health (MESH) system enables us to collect, consolidate and analyze our safety-related performance on a monthly basis. The key indicators we track are injury frequency and injury severity, and we strive for year-to-year improvement. To get there, all our sites provide ESH training and promote our “Accept Only Zero” safety program. This program includes online access to more than 80 safety education courses in multiple languages and access to “Easy Tools” that help managers and employees easily and quickly recognize safety and ergonomic hazards – and take corrective actions to eliminate the root causes.

Safety responsibilities are defined in employees’ job descriptions, reinforced through site communications and measured regularly with rewards for outstanding performance. In all these ways, we are building a culture of accountability – and a safer work environment for Xylem employees.

Pumps and motors manufactured at Strzelin include:
