Power Architecture™ and POWER5The POWER5 design should boost individual processor performance and aggregate system bandwidth in a way that Intel will not be able to match until the Montecito and Tanglewood processors appear. POWER5 should provide IBM with an edge during 2004 and 2005. Source: POWER5 Tops on Bandwidth, Kevin Krewell

Extending Capacity on Demand Leadership
“On/Off Capacity on Demand is like having a line of credit. The iSeries provides us with the flexibility to pay for only what we use, and saves us the cost of installing additional server capacity that likely would be underutilized”
Marshall Andrew, VP Information TechnologyStation Casinos

“Better business means a growing business, and our infrastructure is ready to support that. iSeries delivers the reliability and scalability we need to make our plans a reality. What is most impressive is that we now have just a single iSeries Domino server, rather than seven, with the ability to support thousands of users with complete reliability. For Toyota, this is absolutely invaluable.”

“When customer demand changes for whatever reason, the i890 technology gives us the ability to scale up at a moment's notice turning on the On/Off Capacity on Demand processors. The beauty of the on demand model is that we're fully capable of responding to any sudden changes in the business environment—in our customer's business or in our own. That flexibility is a great advantage in the marketplace.”
