    INDEPENDENT

    DESIGNERS

    What is SlowFashion?

We promote and support In-dependent Slow Fashiondesigners because we think

Slow Fashion is the way forward ina world where a conscious lifestyle isbecoming the rule rather then the ex-

    ception.

Fashion does nothave to upset ourbalance in nature.

In fact, it should exist harmoniouslyand compliment our way of living like

    a handbag does an outt.

We should actually describe what Slow Fash-ion isnt. Slow Fashion isnt driven by theseasons and is most denitely not about mass

production. What it is is high - end, quality fashionthat you can wear throughout the seasons.

Its timelessand oftentimes, the styles are con-sciously created to be worn throughout the seasonson any occasion.

We fell for Milde with thelines eclectic inuenceand funky mix of materi-

als and are sure youll fall for themthis season. Milde transfers thegreen revolution into aestheticallyprogressive ideas and creates beau-tiful and simple feminine lookswith high-quality organic fabricsand futuristic fabrics like Tencel.

Milde is not just a new label; itsa movement, part of the new EcoFashion Generation. Mildes inspi-rational pieces are the result of aconnection between the designersappreciation for high quality mate-rials and dedication to fair workingconditions.

Why does the designermake this connection?Christiane Milde asks,

why not? Empathy does not stopat my doorstep. Her above-aver-age approach to promoting ethicalfashion and attention to detail isevident in the emotion she devotesto her designs.

Mildes designer hasbeen looking forsustainable fabrics

since 2003 and continues toabide by ethical sourcing. Her work reinforces the

notion that quality fash-ion does not haveto sacrifice theenvironment.Ahimsa silkis a non-tradi-tional exampleof sustainable pro-duction.

    Futuristic fabrics and

Why not? As a person living in this world I reallydont know why and how someone cannot care. I justopen my eyes and look at the things that daily hap-

pen on this planet. I dont have to be standing next toa chemical poisoned cotton eld, a child labor fabric, minimum waged workers and so on to feel the pain andsee that a lot of things go wrong. Empathy doesnt stopat my doorstep. That is why for me personally and inbusiness there is no other way in acting. I pretty muchdo everything with the question: How would I feel andlive if I was standing on that side? It is my approach todo better than what is average right now.

    PROS

I work with the materials anddesigns I feel comfortable about and

    I love my work!

    CONS

Sometimes ideas may not cometo life as the fabrics and accessoriestherefor may not exist yet, or Ihavent found them yet....but still

it is not really a con as I can savethese ideas for later

What are the pros andcons in designing yourcollections?

It is way easier now. When I started looking out for sustainable fabricsin 2003 it was still very hard, not to say nearly not existing. The fabricmarket in this area progresses fast and gives reason to hope for some reallygreat fabrics in the future. Considering the new areas, which are openedby Tencel, Recycling and so many more.

    Id introduce empathy.

The summer is going to be fresh and sexy, playingwith transparency and oating fabrics in off-whites. Thewinter brings back some dark colors and sexy shapes.

    In Berlin, doing Eco Fashion.

How easy is it to source materials?

What would you change if you could change 1thing in the entire FashionIndustry?

What can we expect withinthe next year?

Where do you see Mildein 5 years?

What are themust sees anddos when we visitBerlin?

We love Christianes or-ganic approach to visit-ing a city and can pic-

ture ourselves being charmed byeverything during her most-lovedspring or summertime.

We might even rent a bike

through the Call A Bike sharingprogram to get around the cityand down to the Tiergarten parkor by the canal to enjoy a beer andsome specialty organic selectionsfrom the Shoneberg FarmersMarket.

    CHRISTIANEMILDE

Hard question. I preferto explore a city by justwalking and wouldalso recommend thisto you when it comesto Berlin. Look outfor Teufelsberg , aman-made hill risingabove the Grunewald, constructed by the Al-lies after World War IIfrom the citys rubble.Great Spot!

Check out the Schil-lerkiez in Neuklln, good food and theformer airport Tem-pelhofjust arroundthe corner. PerfectHang Out Spot!
