Business Case Development is a method for system-atically examining innovations for their possible market acceptance and other economical aspects. Before an innovative product is to be launched into the market, many ideas will be pursued, sometimes caus-ing unnecessary work and time delays. Business Case Development (BCD) provides the pos-sibility to enrich relevant ‘chosen-product’ ideas, evolved out of the Ideas Management, with market and product data, allowing further examination. BCD is based on a flexible multi-level selection proc-ess, in which an interdisciplinary team of "gate keepers" performs project evaluations due to available informa-tion. On the basis of this method, non-promising prod-ucts can be eliminated in an early stage concentrating development on innovative products only in order to position them fast and successfully into the market. IntraPRO INNOVATION™ - Interactions within the solution process The XWS solution process IntraPRO INNOVATION™ supports and provides the possibility to standardise all processes for new innovations. By creating new ideas inside the production process or making substantial changes to existing products, these will be automatically implemented into the Ideas Management or be transferred to the Business Case Development. At a specific time, a comparison of various decision criteria, e. g. development funds, market potentials, etc. is made for all business cases. Different methods for calculations and characteristic numbers are used in this process. In this way the Portfolio Management provides a substantial decision-making basis for the further pursuit of a business case and for the necessary allocation of funding. Following the portfolio analysis, necessary measures need to be taken in order to reach the next stage in the business case. After a complete business case run, decisions need to be made about the serial development and the following production. However, with this step a business case is not necessarily complete, as the production and market requirements can provide further improvements and extensions.

Idea & Request Management

In Ideas Management, ideas and requests are re-corded, categorised, rated and preselected. The more ideas, proposals and improvement suggestions are collected, the better the system works. For many companies, however, especially this early phase of the innovation process is a problem. Either ideas are rated intuitively, "on a gut level" or hundreds of ideas are subjected to a too complex evaluation at this early stage. With Idea & Request Management (IRM) you are of-fered a solution that allows you to screen, bundle and select innovative ideas effectively. Only ideas which meet predefined minimum standards are selected and transformed into "Business Cases", which then are enriched with market and production data later on. Portfolio Management is a method for the systematic evaluation and prioritisation of the entire development portfolio. The goal is the proper allocation of develop-ment funds and the election of appropriate products. Usually, it is not possible to provide all innovations with development budgets simultaneously. The big chal-lenge, therefore, for companies is to evaluate product chances precisely and to reach objective decisions for the product portfolio. The Portfolio Management (PFM) solution is a strategic planning software which can prognosticate costs, profits and risks. In this way, it is possible to evaluate all planned products and projects in regular intervals and to have a continuous overview on the entire portfolio. Highlights:

Roadmapping is a method of product planning through the product generations. It helps to plan and control product life cycles starting with new developments, through the different product generations and including follow-up products or to the end of the production. The method supports the evolution of products, services and technologies through the generations and along the entire product life cycle. The solution is applicable for all companies in which several product developments – often for several generations – are to be coordinated to enable the product innovations to be placed "in time" in the market. Competition observa-tions, market analyses, trend scouts, customer feed-backs or any innovative ideas are the criteria, all of which can be embedded into temporal as well as stra-tegic operational processes. Each enterprise unit can define independently which single developments are to be illustrated in their own cumulated roadmap. RM provides the ability to generate product road-maps including visualisation of products in differentscenarios, i. e. which new features or new technol-ogy should be integrated, and when or in which generation? Also, which market/customer’s re-quirements are more important, in order to obtain the maximum secure-planning over several pro-duct generations. In RM, various roadmaps (product roadmaps, component roadmaps, technology roadmaps, etc.) can be designed in each department. These are accumulated in ascending order. The planning is done in such a way that no detail can be left out.
