He serves as a “leader of the team” Must be certain that all members

are aware of what is needed during the procedure and the necessary equipments are available

He performs the surgery

He holds the retractors in the wound to expose the operative site

He places clamps on blood vesselsHe assists in suturing and ligation of

CERTIFIED NURSE ANESTHETIST

• A registered nurse with additional credentials who delivers anesthetic agents under the supervision of an anesthesiologist, surgeon or dentist.

• The preoperative holding area nurse's primary responsibility is to provide information and emotional support for patients and their family members, to ensure that all preoperative data have been accumulated, and to maintain patients' baseline hemodynamic statuses.

MUSTS for an OPERATING ROOM NURSE

• Must work very rapidly but efficiently even under tension

• Must be able to react quickly and make necessary changes for anything unexpected during the operation

• Must anticipates the surgeon’s needs and keep one step ahead of him, must be alert and observant
