The Enterprising Museum 11–15 July 2016 Course Fee: £1,160 (excluding VAT)

All cultural organisations are increasingly being required to generate income and pay their way but how do museums, galleries, arts venues and heritage sites learn how to identify and monetise their assets? This course is aimed at anyone working in one of these industries who is seeking to improve and expand their knowledge of commerce and enterprise. Led by specialist staff from the V&A, it considers a selection of core topics - such as how to create products, set up shop, members’ organisations, ticketed programmes, and catering and events - that will complement and support the visitor experience, whilst also generating income.

Curating Fashion and Dress 21–25 November 2016 Course Fee: £1,110 (excluding VAT)

Spanning four centuries, the V&A’s Fashion collection is one of the largest and most comprehensive in the world. V&A fashion exhibitions have attracted millions of visitors enabling the Museum to develop an extraordinary wealth of expertise in the field of curating fashion and dress. Working with Contemporary Artists and Designers in Museums 19–21 July 2016 Course Fee: £750 (excluding VAT)

An increasing number of museums and historic sites are setting up residency programmes and/or commissioning artists and designers to create site-specific works, temporary interventions, educational projects and digital content. This course will examine different ways to work with contemporary artists, designers and performers, using practical case studies. You will investigate live and recent V&A projects to examine relationships between the museum and world class contemporary artists. The course will draw on a wide range of expertise including internal and external curators, and programme and project managers from the Departments of Design and Learning.
