History/Membership
• Founded in 1919 to serve world business by promoting trade and investment, open markets for goods and services and the free flow of capital.
• The largest most represenitive business organization in the world.
• There are two ways to become a member of ICC:1. Through affiliation with an ICC national committee or group.
2. By direct membership with the ICC International Secretariat when a national committee/group has not yet been established in your country/territory.
Controversy
• The ICC is often placed in the role of arbitrator to settle disputes, and sets as well as advocates for occasionally controversial policies.
• Often, members of local Chambers of Commerce are forced to make controversial calls in order to make the area a better place to live.
Recent new articles
• “A guide to supply chain finance basics” - This primer on the popular financing option explains how importers can benefit from it, and how to work with a bank to do due diligence on suppliers before adding them to a program.
• “Avoiding delays and costs by having the correct documentation”- Basically about improper documentation.
• “At the negotiating table”- The executive director at the Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce comments on doing business in Asia.
