I have been a part of Bridging the Gap for a few years now. I went to Mountain Vista Farms, and Bridging the Gap came in and did a presentation. I knew from that day I wanted to be a part of Bridging the Gap. It was a real connection for me and such a great outreach for people wanting to change how they had been living. It gave me hope that I would have a support system out in my own community.I wanted to get a solid foundation in my own recovery before I took on a commitment like Bridging the Gap. After a few years, I was ready and I have never looked back. This is the most fulfilling commitment I have ever had and I hope to continue representing Bridging the Gap for many years to come.I present once a month at Orenda Center and Campobello. I have found that after some presentations, I leave hoping I did for them what they did for me. I feel overflowing hope that they may find a new path, full of hope and promise.Bridging the Gap is a big part of my recovery. It reminds me everything A.A. has done for me and the gifts I’ve been given due to this program. I am very grateful that I have a message of recovery and a forum to share that message of recovery through Bridging the Gap.~Michele G.

Public Information/Cooperation with the Professional Community is a branch of General Service that provides speakers to classes of the Sonoma County Drinking Driver Program. PI/CPC also provides speakers to a number of local schools.I had the opportunity to speak at one of the Sonoma County DUI classes last month. I looked at the faces that stared back at me and felt that I could speak so honestly about the struggles I had for so many years with my disease of alcoholism. The class listened attentively and asked many questions. I hoped that something that I had said would maybe be meaningful to them one day. I spoke of my sobriety and how grateful I was to be finally living the life that I was meant to. I realize that my story helps me to go on. I need not to look outside myself for happiness, joy, love and bliss--it is within me already. I'm not trying to change anyone but myself--but if some part of me helps another--then there is the miracle! If you would like to get involved with PI/CPC, please check it out. The committee meets on the second Wednesday of every month at 7:30pm in the Santa Rosa City Hall employee lounge. Speaker training is held at 7:00pm before the meeting. Your interest and participation would be most welcome. See you there!~Bridget P.

This month our sale book is “Experience, Strength and Hope.” This book contains 56 stories from the first three editions of the Big Book that are not in the 4th Edition. This is the hard cover edition and will be sold at 20% off our regular price for the month of October, at $6.36 + tax.We are currently recruiting for a volunteer to staff the cashier desk at the bookstore four hours every other week. The sobriety requirement is one year and experience with retail sales and/or computer software is desirable. HOSPITALS & INSTITUTIONS“Whenever I find myself under acute tensions, I lengthen my daily walks and slowly repeat our Serenity Prayer in rhythm to my steps and breathing. If I feel that my pain has in part been occasioned by others, I try to repeat, "God grant me the serenity to love their best and never fear their worst." This benign healing process of repetition, sometimes necessary to persist with for days, has seldom failed to restore me to at least a workable emotional balance and perspective.” [Bill W., Grapevine, March 1962]On September 5, 2016, the Hospitals & Institutions Committee gave a crisp Fall welcome to new meeting reps Theo M., representing Saturday Solution (Petaluma); Melissa T., Women's Step Study and Discussion; Tanya W., Step Sisters; Ashley M., Good Neighbors (Geyserville); Addie S., Chopstix (Rohnert Park); Cat A., Sonoma Friday Night; Kathleen S., Women's Book Group (Sonoma); June, Higher Power; Jennifer R., Emotional Sobriety (Cotati); Cheryl F., Women's Big Book; Sarah G., 12 x 12 Discussion Group; Meg., Saturday Night Living Right (Sebastopol); Scott W., Alcoholics Only; Erin, Just For Today (Rohnert Park/Cotati); Anthony A., T.G.I.F.
