The primary sector is so called because it is the first form of economic activity practiced by man.It includes all the activity that affect crops, both the traditional and organic crops.The main activities are: 1. Agriculture

Some typical products exported from Italy are:

LARDO DI COLONNATA : The lard is made with pork lard seasoned in basins of Carrara marble. In fact the lard is placed in the basins in alternate layers, with aromas and flavors. The basins are rubbed with garlic, have special temperature and humidity, so that the finished product has an unique characteristics. Step 1 : This is the basin where the fat is deposited.

Extra virgin olive oil: Italy is the second manufacturer, in Europe and around the World, of olive oil with an average production of 464,000 tons, with 41 olives DOC and 1 olive IGP.The most important is the extra virgin Tuscan olive oil IGP

Campania buffalo mozzarella DOP: The production area includes the provinces of Benevento,Caserta,Naples and Salerno.

The term “Mozzarella” derives from the verb “cut off”, that is, the operation still practiced today in all dairies.

Italy is known for the production of the most important cars in the world as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and Fiat.Ferrari: Was born in Modena in 1939 by Enzo Ferrari. The first Ferrari’s car called 125 S was created in 1947 and was also the first car to have the name Ferrari. The Ferrari super-cars are exported all over the world and participated with great success to the most famous car races in the world. FERRARI 125 S

Lamborghini: Was born in 1948 in Ferrara and founded by Ferruccio Lamborghini. Very soon the Super-car Larmborghini 350 was born. The projects, the originality and the power of Lamborghini have always been the most famous features in the car’s world.

Maserati: Was founded in Bologna in 1914 by Alfieri Maserati, and only in 1926 his first car was born with the name «Type 26». From that time this company is famous worldwide for its powerful engines and the luxury of its cars.

Fiat: The company was founded in Turin in 1899 by a group of entrepreneurs and aristocrats, then Giovanni Angelli had the idea to build the first cheapest car in Italy: 500. From that time Fiat is famous worldwide for the production of safe economic cars as: Fiat Punto , Fiat Tipo, Fiat 127, Fiat 600.

The Italian fashion is considered one of the most important in the world.The main centers of Italian fashion are Milan, Rome and to a lesser importance, Florence. In 2009, Milan was considered the fashion capital, even surpassing cities such as New York, Paris, Rome and London. Most of the major Italian fashion brands, like Valentino, Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada and Versace have their headquarters in Milan.

Armani: His style is unmistakable. Typical of his production are the jackets with no internal supports, no buttons and modified traditional proportions: unstructured jackets, absolute emblem of his style.

Dolce & Gabbana: The first meeting between the two took place on the phone, when Domenico Dolce called the fashion company where Stefano Gabbana was working, looking for a job. After being hired by the company, Dolce took Gabbana under his protection and taught him how the process of designing for a fashion company works and how to sketch new designs.

Prada: The fashion house was founded in 1 1913 by Mario Prada and his brother Martino, who opened a leather shop, bags, travel accessories and luxury in the Vittorio Emanuele II Gallery. Very

soon thanks to the high quality of the products, the boutique became a

point of reference for the haute bourgeoisie and aristocracy of

Europe, in 1919 it became the official supplier of the Italian Royal family .

Versace: Gianni Versace moved to Milan, where he initially drew only some collections. Shortly after the name of Gianni Versace began to circulate among the fashion circles and in 1976 with his older brother Santo Versace, decided to star a company. In March 1978, the first Versace fashion collection was hold in Milan. Valentino: The Valentino’s internatioal debut took place in Florence in 1962 in Palazzo Pitti. In an hour all the collection was sold. It was such a success!! By the mid sixties the Valentino brand became popular, and in 1968 an American magazine called Valentino: «King of Italian fashion».

Another important economic contribution to the secondary sector is given by food factories.In Italy there are about 323 thousand factories, the most important are represented by trademarks like Martini & Rossi, Ferrero , Barilla and Kimbo coffee.

Barilla:It was founded in 1877 in Parma. It is a multinational Italian food business, a global leader of bakery products in the market of dried pasta and sauces. Their slogan is: where there is Barilla there is a house.

Ferrero: It is a multinational company specialized in Italian confectionery products, founded in 1942 by Pietro Ferrero in Alba. The sales office is located in Pino Torinese (Italy), but all the Italian products are still produced in Alba. Their slogan is: The good ideas conquer the world. Kimbo coffee: Kimbo Coffee is a trademark of Café do Brasil, it was born in 1963 in Naples. Café do Brasil manufactures and delivers coffee blends of the well-known brand in Italy and in some countries of the world, and it is considered one of the major coffee companies in the world.

The tertiary sector is the sector in which services and products are provided, it includes all those activities complementary and supportive to the activities of the primary and secondary sectors. Basic elements of this sector are tourism and wine tourism.

Pasta of GragnanoAt the end of the sixteenth century appeared the first pasta family in the city of Gragnano (province of Naples), this country has a particulary favourable climatic condition, a slight moist air that allows the slow drying of the "macaroni". The pasta production, in particular of "macaroni", made famous in the world in the nineteenth century and Gragnano knew its golden age. Via Roma and Piazza Trivione, with macaroni hanging out to dry.

Gragnano has even gained the opening of a railway station for the export of macaroni that connects to Naples and then to the entire country. On May 12, 1885, the inauguration was attended by the King Umberto I and his wife, Queen Margherita of Savoy.
