LESSON 3Historical background of the holiday

Main part Group work1. Ss read 4 stories about the historical background of these holidays 2. Ss make a poster – they are supposed to illustrate the most important facts about he holiday 3. Presentation/ a short discussion4. Ss prepare 10 questions using the previously given texts for the HISTORIAN who is about to come5. A discussion with an expert

Main part Group workRubrics – invent your own holiday, take elements from all American holidays, Ss should have five items in their rubrics: Symbols, Decorations, Food, Historical background, Legends/Poems

(they can choose how they are going to do – poster, PPT, video, play, essay)
