In response to a U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) urgent Operational Need Statement (ONS), KBR supported the development of a concept for use of existing sensors and command and control (C2) systems supporting intercept and destruction of rockets, artillery and mortars. KBR assisted with the integration of three existing intercept systems with existing sensors and C2 and provided valuable support to the initial proof-of-principle testing.
Result: These systems engineering and integration solutions led to successful fielding and protection of warfighter critical forward-based personnel and assets.
KBR provided systems engineering, integration and test support to the Lower Tier Project Office (LTPO) during planning, execution and analysis phases of FTI-01, the largest and most complex missile defense flight test ever attempted. Our close coordination with warfighter on island, and use of reach-back expertise, assisted in the successful detect, track and near simultaneous engagement of ballistic missile and cruise missile targets by the PAC-3 Missile System over the broad ocean area northeast of Kwajalein Atoll.
Result: KBR contributions to the Patriot Missile System over the past 35+ years support continuous system enhancements to battlespace performance against evolving threats.
KBR performed independent analysis and system threat assessments for the development, implementation and evaluation/testing of interoperability requirements and architectures used to integrate LTPO systems with IAMD, THAAD and MDA systems. We provided analysis and documentation to aid technical information exchange critical to systems integration. We also defined an interface to IAMD Integrated Fire Control Network (IFCN), using a KBR-developed real time data distribution system.
Result: KBR ensured the successful integration of LTPO systems with IAMD, THAAD and MDA systems.

KBR developed the BMDS Operational Test Agency (OTA) Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Accreditation Plan approved by all OTA commanders as the single source document for all M&S accreditation within MDA. The plan received positive comments from all OTA commands for its comprehensive performance parameters, acceptability criteria and analytical approach for accrediting BMDS M&S. The KBR tool, Athena, was leveraged to support timely and accurate BMDS, THAAD and AN/TPY-2 assessments critical for testing, fielding and deployment decisions.
Result: KBR tools and processes led to reducing the Army Test and Evaluation Command test reporting timeline by one-third.
