DESCRIPTION
Playing with Linear and Quadratic Functions
Citation preview
The aim of this magazine is to work on the
concepts of linear and quadratic functions.
The following games have been selected for you to
learn and have fun.
The games have been set in order of difficulty
for students from 1ro ES to 4to ES.
1. Finding Patterns
Function Machine
Aim: Learn the concept of a function by allowing you to experiment
with various functions.

2. Identifying the Equation of Straight Lines
Aim: Find the equation of the line that passes through a set of given
points.
http://funbasedlearning.com/algebra/graphing/lines/default.htm
3. Interpreting Graphs
Aim: Solve everyday problems analysing linear graphs.

4. Drawing Straight Lines
Aim: Draw the straight line that satisfies given conditions.

5. Graphing Quadratic Functions
Aim: Draw graphs of simple quadratic functions with or without the
prompt of a table of values.

6. Identifying equations of curves
Aim: Recognise and know the sketches of quadratics, cubics and
reciprocals, including the shape of positive and negative functions and
interpretation of their y-intercepts. Also match sketches of curves to
their equations.

ommon_curves
7. Finding the x and y intercepts of curves
Aim: Find x and y intercepts of a non linear function given the graph
and/or function.

pts_of_curves
8. Identifying the characteristics of quadratic functions
Aim: Find the y-intercept, roots and vertex of a given quadratic function.
http://www.ixl.com/math/algebra-1/characteristics-of-quadratic-functions
9.Factorising Quadratic Equations (Part 1)
Aim: Write a quadratic equation in terms of its roots.
(Note: A different way of access has been introduced in this game. Instead of writing
the link underneath, you may have access to the game and play it directly by clicking
on the image.)
10. Factorising Quadratic Equations (Part 2)
Aim: Match factorised expressions with the corresponding quadratic
formula.

11. Identifying Linear and Quadratic Functions (Final Revision)
Aim: Recognise and draw linear and quadratic functions.
