Substrate Preparation:

The substrate must be level, sound, free from cracks, dry, clean and free from materials which would impairadhesion. Test the substrate in accordance with applicablestandards and report any deficiencies.

Thoroughly vacuum off the substrate and then primeand apply smoothing compound. Select suitable primerand smoothing compound from the UZIN Product Guideac cording to the type of substrate and occupational use.

Always allow primers and smoothing compounds to drythoroughly.

Observe the Product Data Sheets for the products used.

Application:

Installation of the underlay:

Lay out the sheet underlay parallel to the proposed direc-tion of the covering, but with joints offset by at least20 cm, and cut in. Cut any butt joints and seams if necessary.

For installation of wood flooring, lay the underlay at right-angles to the direction of the wood flooring.

Install in accordance with normal trade practice for ”floorcovering and wood flooring installation”.

Observe the Product Data Sheets for the adhesives used(see Adhesive Data).

For surface coverings that are prone to showing subfloormarks, e.g. thin textile coverings, smooth over the bondedunderlay with UZIN KR 410 and allow to cure completely.

Adhering the surface covering:

Adhere the covering not earlier than 24 – 48 hours afterinstalling the underlay. The joints in the covering should beparallel to, but offset by at least 20 cm from the joints inthe underlay.

For bonding multi-ply wood flooring use adhesives accord-ing to the chart ”Adhesive Data of Wood Flooring Work”.

Adhesive Data of Wood Flooring Work:

* Observe the setting time for the bonded underlay before bonding onto it themultiply wood flooring.

** Setting time required before exposing the installed wood flooring to use / traffic.*** Only use UZIN MK 73 if both the insulating underlay and the wood flooring will

be bonded with UZIN MK 73.

Important Notes:3 Min. 24 months shelf-life in dry storage conditions.

3 Best applied at 18 – 25 °C / 64 – 77 °F, floor temperatureabove 15 °C / 59 °F and relative humidity below 75 %. Lowtemperatures and high humidity extend, whilst high tempera-tures and low humidity shorten the working, setting and dryingtimes of the adhesives used.

3 The specified acoustic value is an approximate value deter-mind under normed conditions. Due to the individual acousticsin each building and the used materials and compositions ineach case the values can differ. To determinate the real acousticvalue the measurement and its evaluation have to take placeat real conditions.

3 On insulating underlays, only bond those floor coverings thatare recommended by the manufacturer as being suitable and,if necessary, obtain technical advice.

3 Under wood block RE 10 – 30 mm, use only UZIN RR 188 in2 mm in combination with UZIN MK 92 S.

3 The fully-bonded insulating underlay can be used in conjunc-tion with the UZIN Multibase flooring replacement system toprotect it during renovation and retain it for subsequent re-use.Obtain technical advice.

3 The castor- and indentation-resistance of the floor coveringcan be affected when used in conjunction with the underlay. If in doubt, obtain technical advice.

3 On underfloor heating systems, in accordance with DIN EN 1264,floor coverings should not exceed a thermal insulation valueof 0.15 m2K/W. The thermal insulation value of the doublelayer underlay/covering is the sum of individual values.

3 Observe the generally acknowledged rules of the industry andtechnology for the installation of floor covering and woodflooring as well as the respective applicable national standards(e.g. EN, DIN, VOB, Ö-NORM, SIA and others). The followingstandards and bulletins apply as well, amongst others, or arerecommended for special consideration:– DIN 18 356 ”Working with wood flooring”, Ö-Norm B 2218– DIN 18 367 ”Working with wood blocks”– DIN 18 365 ”Working with floor coverings”, Ö-Norm B 2236– ZDB publication ”Resilient and textile floor coverings andwood flooring on heated floor constructions”

– BEB publication ”Assessment and preparation of substrates”– TKB publication ”Bonding of wood flooring”– TKB publication ”Bonding of textile floor covering”

Protection of the Workplace and the Environment:No special measures are required. Refer to the notes on protection of the workplaceand the environment in the Product Information Sheets for the other installationmaterials used. EMICODE EC 1 PLUS – ”very low emission” – tested and classified inaccordance with GEV regulations. According to current knowledge, gives off no emis-sions of formaldehyde, hazardous materials or other volatile, organic compounds (VOC).

Disposal:All product residues are treated as normal construction waste.
