    USE

Remote control EV90 is used in particularly complex plants where several different devices are required to solveheat regulation problems. The system consists of a master device EV90, and one or more slave devices connected to the master

through a communication bus called a FANBUS.

    OPERATION

The device operates as a central control unit. Through its display and keyboard the user may display and modifyparameters of slave control units connected to the FANBUS. A probe detects the value of the outside temperaturewhich is sent by means of the FANBUS to all relevant control units thereby avoiding duplication. The hour and date, including standard time, may be set directly on the front of the device and used by all devicesconnected to the BUS.Just one modem (analogue or GSM) lets you remotely manage and modify the parameters of the Master EV90and all other control units. When an alarm is triggered by a slave, it is first transmitted to the master EV90 and thento a remote station or to an enabled mobile phone.Another function of EV90 is boiler regulation (with 1 or 2 stages); it maintains a high enough boilertemperature to provide all connected users with heat.

    CHOICE OF LANGUAGE

During installation it is possible to select the language used to view the Menus. With the control unit off press andhold the + key (see figure hereunder)and switch on the power. When theSCELTA LINGUA icon appears, re-lease the + key and scroll the lan-guages using the + and keys. Uponreaching the language desired pressthe > key. The instrument will displaythe information in the chosen lan-guage.

    DESIGN CHARACTERISTICS

DIN 144x144 container, rapid couplingcontrol unit on base with FASTONconnectors and see-through cover.Protruding, built-in or back-of-boardmounting possibility. All parametersare displayed on a 4-line alphanumericdisplay with 16 characters per line. Tofacilitate reading in bad light, press anykey to light the display; the light goesoff after about 60 seconds of being idle(no key pressed).

    FANBUSFANBUS

You may connect 15 different types of control units to the FANBUS with at most 8 of the same type of control units(so 15x8 = max of 120 control units). You may connect the EV90 to the slave with a simple low voltage, polarity free bifilar duplex cable (both wires maybe inverted with each other without causing malfunction). All slaves must be connected in parallel to the BUS.

    ADDRESS OF CONTROL UNITS

Each control unit is identified by two digits that determine its address. The first digit represents the model andcannot be modified. The second one may be set through jumpers on each slave's terminal board:EV91A first digit: 1EV91C first digit: 2EV92 first digit: 3If only one control unit per type is present on the BUS, no intervention is needed.Since the second digit is automatically set =0, the control units will have the addresses 10, 20 and 30 respectively.

If 3 EV91A control units are needed on the same BUS, you'll have to set address 1 on the second control unit, andaddress 2 on

So, the result will be:1 - EV91A address 10 (no bridge = address 0)2 - EV91A address 11 (set address 1)3 - EV91A address 12 (set address 2)1 - EV91C address 20 (no bridge = address 0)1 - EV92 address 30 (no bridge = address 0)This way every control unit will have an address that identifies it unambiguously.N.B. the two digits of the address must go in front of all remote management commands for faultlesscommunication with the desired device.1 - EV91C indirizzo 20 (nessun ponte = indirizzo 0)

    ADDRESS OF CONTROL UNIT EV90

The master control unit EV90D should be considered in the same way as a slave with a fixed address : 00. So, ifyou have to change the current time, for instance, you must send the change command preceded by 00.

    HOW TO SET THE ADDRESSES

The purpose of connector A on each device is to supply power and to set its address through jumpers. This is convenient when the device must be replaced because, instead of losing the address, it is memorised inthe terminal board and so the new device will automatically assume the address of the old one.Below we have indicated the jumpers to make to have all combinations

    AUTOMATIC RECOGNITION

When a new device is added to the BUS it is automatically recognised. After about 60 seconds master EV90is able to display and communicate with it.

OPERATION AS CONTROL UNIT OF BOILER

    OPERATION

Besides performing the function as the master of a plant, theEV90 may be used as the control unit of a boiler with eitherfixed temperature or sliding temperature, by directlycommanding a one- or two-stage burner.Through a measuring probe the device detects thetemperature value of the boiler. If the temperature value fallsbelow differential 1, the first stage is turned on, and if it fallsbelow differential 2 and stays there for a certain length of time, the second stage is also turned on.The command of the relays is visible on the front of thedevice. The boiler may be turned on and off according to a weeklyprogram that may be set on the same control unit.

    CALCULATED BOILER TEMPERATURE

The boiler temperature the control unit calculates may be fixed or sliding. When it is fixed, the value set will notbe changed, but when it is sliding, the value set is added to the highest temperature value required byconnected slaves. This way it is possible to regulate the boiler with a temperature that continually variesdepending on the requirements of the entire plant.N.B. when you are setting the desired boiler temperature value, bear in mind that with fixed point regulation it isthe value the control unit uses, and with sliding regulation, it represents an increase with respect to the highestvalue decided by the various control units of the plant.

    LIMITS

You may set the highest and lowest boiler temperature limits within which the calculated temperature mayvary. The control unit will ensure that these values are not exceeded.

    DIFFERENTIAL 1

Differential of the first stage. It indicates the temperature difference with the one calculated by the control unitbelow which the first stage of the burner is turned on.

    DIFFERENTIAL 2

Differential of the second stage. It indicates the temperature difference with the one calculated by the controlunit below which the second stage of the burner is turned on. To avoid useless or ill-timed interventions, thissituation should persist for a certain length of time (may be set on the control unit).

    INSTALLATION

    INSTALLING THE CONTROL UNIT

Fully loosen the tie rod to release the base of the control unit.Lever on the slots with a screwdriver to remove the base. After you have made the electric connections, press the FASTON connectors of the control unit into the couplingsof the base until they are fully inserted.Tighten the tie rod.

    EXTERNAL PROBE EC81

Install the external probe in a vertical position onto the north or north-west side of the building at least 2.5m from the ground.Apply the probe far from heat sources (windows, aerators, flues, etc.) to detect a meaningful temperature for the whole plant.N.B. It's always possible to install one of the external probes on control unit EV91A. The device will automaticallyuse the value measured by its probe instead of the one transmitted by EV90 through the FANBUS.

    BOILER AND RETURN PROBE EC82-EC83

Contact probe EC82 must be applied onto the water pipe with a special clamp. Put some thermal compoundbetween them to ensure good heat conductivity. For the same reason immersion probe EC83 must be inserted inthe sheath filled with mineral oil or silicone grease.

    CONNECTION TO THE FANBUS

Connect the control units to the Master EV90 through the FANBUS. Bear in mind that the bus has low voltage andis not polarised, so the terminals may be inverted with each other without causing malfunction

    ADDRESS OF CONTROL UNITS

The control units must be addressed to work properly and to be questioned by remote management.Make sure that they are properly configured.

    CONNECTING THE MODEM

Follow the diagram below to connect the EV90 to the modem. It's necessary to connect pins 7-8 and 4-6 to each other for faultless communication.

    PREPARING THE MODEM

Both the GSM and the analogue modem supplied by Fantini-Cosmi will work properly. Another modem may be usedprovided that the communication speed is 2400bit/sec. To do this, use the command AT+IPR =2400 and save the newconfiguration with the command: AT&W.If a GSM modem is used, use and memorise the command AT+CMGF=1 to set the SMS message format to text mode.

    USING A SIM CARD

The GSM modem works with any SIM card. Before using one, however, we recommend that you test it in a mobile phone

to see if it's working. Particularly:-check that no PIN code has been set. If so, try to exclude it-Check the remaining credit-Send an SMS message and check if it arrives

After these checks, install the SIM card in the modem connector

    OPERATION

When a GSM or analogue modem is connected to the EV90, you may remotely read and change some of its data anddata of all devices connected to the FANBUS. To properly communicate with the desired device, every command mustbe preceded by two digits representing the device's address. So, to address commands to unit EV90, you must firstenter 00. All possible commands for each slave are described on the instruction sheets for each device.

    REMOTE MANAGEMENT SMS COMMANDS

These commands may be used through a mobile phone by sending an SMS message containing the message to theunit's GSM modem. It answers with a reply SMS message to the phone number that requested the information. To facilitate message reading, the information is enclosed in a sign. And every reply message is preceded by

a description of control unit EV90, at times followed by a description of the slave control unit to easily identify the sender.
