From the Principal’s Pen 15th October 2015
Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back to our final busy Term 4 for 2015.
W.A. OPERA COMPANY
We were treated to a special occasion with the visit of the
W.A. Opera Company on our first day back. Several fantastic
high quality artists showed us opera in all its “glory” giving
us an entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable one hour session. The
artists were very interactive with the audience and had our students
spell bound as the photos indicate.
MUSICA VIVA
Next Wednesday, this well-known musical group will perform three concerts. The magical trio of guitar, violin and
cello is the perfect introduction to chamber music for our students. The “Fiddlesticks” group will perform with a
repertoire of contemporary and familiar classics show casing versatility of instruments in the string family. Musica
Viva has been inspiring students across Australia for more than thirty years.
A special discount price has been negotiated. Normally this concert costs $7.70. Castletown student cost is $5.00.
ESPERANCE SHOW
The community looks forward to the Annual Esperance and Districts Show. As has been the tradition our school is
show casing some beautiful school work in the main pavilion for all to see. Unfortunately we cannot present all
our children’s work and only samples will be on show. Please go and check out Castletown Primary School’s
wonderful exhibition when you visit on Friday or Saturday. Special thanks to Mrs Garvey and Ms Mather for
setting up the exhibition.
SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT DAY
Whilst our students have a student free day on Friday, staff will be planning and developing school plans for 2016
on our priorities, with Mr Gavin Power, Literacy and Numeracy Principal Consultant from Perth. It is expected we
will be covering our strategic plans and working on operational plans for most of the day. Mrs Wendy Weckert
and Mrs Beth Brown will conduct a whole school session on National Quality Standard and the implications for our
school.

YEAR 6 VOLLEYYEAR 6 VOLLEYYEAR 6 VOLLEYYEAR 6 VOLLEYBBBBALL DAYALL DAYALL DAYALL DAY At the end of last term, Castletown PS Year 6 students took part in the Volleyball "SpikeZone" Cup held at the Esperance Beach Volleyball courts. It was a culmination of learning the volleyball skills of serve, dig, set and spike during Phys Ed lessons over a 5 week period. Using these learnt skills and having loads of fun, Castletown was good enough to have the winning team and be announced the winning School. Special thanks to all the parent helpers on the day. _______________________________________________________________________
