INSIDER NEWS FROM CATS BOSTON January 2019 WELCOME FROM OUR HEAD OF SCHOOL We are very excited about the start of the 2019 Spring Semester which started on January 7. Our goal is to prepare students for university success. Outside of their core studies, we encourage students to be their best and maximise their time with us by taking part in a range of extracurricular activities to develop skills and explore the Boston area and beyond. In this newsletter, we share a few highlights. With children so far away from home, we understand how important communication is. Soon you will receive a report on your child’s progress that will give more detail on how they are doing both inside and outside the classroom. Chris Angell, Head of School CATS SCHOLARS’ TRIP TO THE AMERICAN MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY, NYC Our students took a trip to the American Museum of Natural History as part of the Scholars Program. The American Museum of Natural History is one of the largest museums in the world. It is renowned for its exhibitions and scientific collections. “Going on a trip with the students is always an adventure especially when the trip is to New-York city: an early start, New York University (NYU), lunch on the go, American Museum of Natural History (NY), a lot of walking, and bringing back home memorable moments to share. One for all and all for one. This is the spirit of CATS!” Lucy LaVallee Head of English as a Second Language “The museum trip was eye-opening. I got to learn about the many artifacts of social sciences and natural sciences, I came to the realization of my true passion - It even sparked curiosity about subjects that I’ve never thought about! The Scholars’ trip has encouraged me to continue learning about our world and to appreciate it’s diversity.” Mia from Vietnam (student) Enrol now and be your best catseducation.com [email protected] +44 (0)1223 345698 PREPARING YOU FOR UNIVERSITY SUCCESS Follow CATS Education

A RACE AGAINST THE CLOCKSTUDENTS ENJOY A GO-KARTING SESSION

Recently, our students enjoyed a trip to K1 Speed, an indoor go-karting venue in Boston. They took the wheel in a thrilling experience where they competed against friends in a race against the clock. K1 Speed is America’s largest karting company, unlike most go-kart tracks, which use lawn mower-powered machines, the karts are fully electric. Congratulations to Lluc who got first place in the race!

CATS ACADEMY STUDENTS SUPPORT THE LOCAL COMMUNITYCATS COMMUNITY SERVICE

This month our CATS Community students got involved with the Braintree Community Arts Center. Our students are participating in a five-part international arts program in which they work with young children from the local community and share interesting parts of their culture. Last week, our students taught local children about the culture of China and how to make paper lanterns and Chinese flags.

DEVELOPING TEAM WORKING SKILLS IN THE ADVENTURE GAME ‘ESCAPE THE ROOM’

Our students visited Escape the Room in Boston, where they worked together in teams in a race against the clock to solve a series of increasingly challenging puzzles. The rooms have been developed by an all-star team of puzzle designers, theme park engineers and set designers.

LIP SYNC YOUR HEART OUT

Students took to the stage to perform a hilarious and entertaining show. They lip-synced to their favourite tunes with fun, energetic dance routines, and we even got to see our teachers, Mr Punches, Ms Lomax and Mr Lewan rock out to their favourite songs!

A WIN FOR THE GIRLS’ BASKETBALL TEAM

The girls had a great win against Marie Philip School with a score of 38-31. Whilst the boys didn’t quite reach the same success, they still played a fantastic game.
