In its 12th successive year, the JK Tyre-FMSCI National Rotax Karting Championship is the only National Karting Championship in the country. Spread over five rounds, the 2015 season of JK Tyre-FMSCI National Rotax Karting Championship will be hosted across karting tracks in Hyderabad, Coimbatore & Bengaluru. The first two rounds of the event was held at Chicane circuit which is Hyderabad’s brand new karting track and the JKNKC was the first major event that was hosted at the track. 1.2 kms in length & 8.5kms in width with 12 corners, the Chicane circuit was the perfect circuit to start the exciting season of karting. The third round will be held at Kari Motorsport Speedway, Coimbatore.

The last two rounds will be held at Bengaluru’s new karting destination, the Meco Kartopia track which is 1.2kms in length. The karts this year are running on the new Evo Max engines which have elevated the karts perfor-mance which has in turn upgraded the driver’s performance. Over 45 participants from across the country are participating in the champi-onship which kickstarted in June with the finals scheduled in October this year. Leading professional karting teams of the country namely Team Rayo

Racing from Mumbai, Team Meco Racing from Chennai, Team Mohite’s Racing from Kolhapur, Team BPC Racing from Bangalore and Team Dark Don Racing from Chennai have lined up their drivers on the grid to win the coveted championship title. In addition to the five teams, there are two new teams in the championship this year namely Team Erda Racing from Baroda & Team India Karting from Bangalore. The drivers representing the 7 teams are divided in three categories basis their age: Micro Max (7 yrs-12 yrs), Junior Max (13-yrs-15 yrs) & Senior Max (15 yrs & above).

Each participant will be awarded points aftereach round. The overall champions in each category will be decided basis the total points after five rounds. The overall champions in the Junior & Senior Max category will get a lifetime opportunity to represent India & drive in the World Karting Finals 2015 which is scheduled in Portugal later this year in Novem-ber. The overall champions, the first & second runner-up in the Junior Max & Senior Max category get a fully sponsored drive in the JK Racing India Series in the JK Tyre Racing Championship 2016. The JK Racing India series features BMW powered engines Formula cars and is the next step in the growth progression ladder of motorsport after Karting.

TEAM PROFILES

MECO RACINGMeco Racing is the racing team management arm of MMS. It is trusted by drivers, supported by patrons, and respected by the Indian motorsports fraternity as the country’s No.1 racing team, not just for its passion, performance and achievement, but also for the iconic name associated with it. When Meco Racing Academy says: we produce champion drivers; we don’t just train them and let them find their own way, we give the more dedicated ones a further boost to help them fulfill their dream of competing in and winning racing championships. As part of their promise to guide their aspirants from day 1 to F1, Meco fields teams in karting and racing. Our teams participate in all major Indian karting and racing events and some international races as well. Meco Motorsports is India’s No. 1 motorsports management enterprise started by Indian racing legend, Akbar Ebrahim who is regarded as the best racer of his era. He was the first Indian to race at international circuits.

RAYO RACINGRayo Racing started in 2006 by 8 time champion – Rayomand Banajee, with the intention of creating future champions for India. Rayo Racing is now run and co-owned by Steve Hodges, another talented former racer. Besides numerous Indian Titles, Rayo Racing has also won 4 International Karting Titles & now run a team in the LGB Formula 4 series of the JK Tyre Racing Championship. The Rayo Racing Academy runs courses for aspiring racers in both Karting & Formula Cars.

BPC RACINGBPC Racing is a successful karting team based in Bangalore, India. Robert Donison founded the team in the year 2014 with the ultimate aim of developing and promoting Karting as a sport in India. They pride themselves on the professional standard of their kart preparation ensuring that drivers have reliable, safe and well maintained equipment for their racing.


MOHITE’S RACINGThe team is based in Kolhapur, Maharashtra and was established by Mr Shivaji Mohite and his nephew Mr Abhishek Mohite in the year 2006. The team was started after building a CIK approved international 1.2km karting track which is one of the best technical track in the country and also hosted an international Karting race in 2007. Currently, Mohite’s Racing has 3 drivers. The team has produced National Champions like Dhruv Mohite who is a Micromax Champion, Pradyuman who is a two time national champion, Krishnaraj Mahadik who is also a two time junior National Champion and Chittesh Mandody who is a junior and senior National Champion.

ERDA RACINGErda Racing is a professional karting team started in 2015. The team is based in Vadodra and currently has one junior and one senior rookie driver. Mira Erda, one of the two girls who is taking part in the National Karting Championship belongs to this team.

DARK DON RACINGDark Don Racing is a Professional Racing & Karting Team and Group entity of Motorworkz Chennai, formed in the year 2012 and debuted in the JK Tyre National Racing Championship 2012 season, with 4 cars and extended its fleet to 6 cars in the LGB Formula 4 category. In its debut year itself Dark Don Racing won the Team & Drivers National championship and was crowned as National Racing Champions 2012. Once again Dark Don Racing kept the glory of motorsport and emerged as the Racing Champions of 2013 & 2014 by winning the Team and Drivers Championship in the JK Tyre Racing Championship in each season in its respective class. After launching its Professional Karting Team in 2013, which debuted in the JK Tyre National Rotax Max Karting Championship the team won most of races in that season. In 2014 Dark Don Racing Karting Team emerged as the First Runner up of JK Tyre National Rotax Max Karting Champion in the Junior Max Category. The team is owned by a well experienced & successful former Indian Racing Driver Mr. Afsar Riyaz. E and managed by Mr. Siva Kumar.
