America’s Challenge Gas Balloon RaceThe America’s Challenge is one of two premier distance racesfor gas balloons in the world. The America’s Challenge wasfounded by the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta in1995 to provide a consistent American venue for gasballooning. The results of the America's Challenge event areused as a qualifier for US teams to enter the Gordon Bennett.
Flight of the Nations – Mid-Week MassAscensionDuring this mid-week flight, preceding the Mass Ascension,select pilots of participating countries will carry theircountry's flag during this multinational flight.This excitingevent recognizes the international ballooning communitythat participates in Balloon Fiesta to help make it the largestof its kind in the world.
TwilightTwinkle Glow™, Balloon Glow™, andNight Magic™ GlowCelebrated for their ethereal whimsy, these events are amongthe most widely anticipated of the Balloon Fiesta.At twilightthe burners of tethered balloons are ignited, illuminating thenight with colorfully glowing envelopes that guests canwander amongst before enjoying the AfterGlow™ Fireworksshow.
CompetitionsDouble launches on Monday,Tuesday,Thursday and Fridayoffer the best shows at the Balloon Fiesta.They combine thelaunch of hundreds of balloons from the Launch Field withthe allure of hundreds more maneuvering to the LaunchField for their chance at prizes and fame, creating a theatricalebb and flow of color in the sky.Through our variouscompetitions during the Balloon Fiesta, pilots candemonstrate their flying finesse, control, and accuracy whilecompeting with international peers for points and prizes.
AfterGlow™ FireworksFollowing each glow event the night blooms with the mostspectacular fireworks show in the state. Bring your blanketsand chairs for this popular extravaganza. Shows begin as soonas the Launch Field is clear of balloons. Once the balloonsare glowing, only outbound traffic is allowed, so attendeeswho wish to watch the show must arrive at the park for thebeginning of the evening's glow event. Starting times areapproximate and subject to change without notice.
Main StreetDuring ballooning events, be sure to visit this one-third milestretch at Balloon Fiesta Park where you will find a plethoraof great food vendors, unique merchandise, and hands-onexhibits.
