Medicare Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) Appointments for Part D Drug Plans Dur-ing Annual Enrollment

REMAINING WITH YOUR MEDICARE PART D PLAN COULD BE COSTLY

· Oct. 15th – Dec 7th is the Annual Enrollment Period to review and switch Part D drug plans.

· For help, call ARC at 309-888-9099 ext. 3, and leave a message for SHIP to return you call. Please call after September 20th.

· Appointments will be set between Oct 15-Dec 7th.

· You do not have to be a member at ARC to make an appointment.

Over the last three years SHIP Counselors found 40% to 60% of those assisted in reviewing their current drug plan indicated they would switch when they learned another plan would cost less.

Annual savings for this group, just last year, totaled close to $54,500. People indicated it was easy to un-derstand why and how to switch with the assistance of SHIP. Counselors, at no cost, will provide private ap-pointments for individuals and couples to compare their current drug plan for 2019 with all other options for 2020. Detailed printed copies of the explanations including costs, best pharmacies and plan specifics are provided. If desired, assistance to switch to a dif-ferent preferred plan can be done during the appoint-ment. Drug plan comparisons are also available for those without a current drug plan and already on Medicare or will be new to Medicare by Dec 31st.

Important: Medicare Advantage Drug Plans- compari-son appointments will be available only until Novem-ber 21st. Any decisions with this type of insurance involve considerable evaluation of the medical as-pects, networks, and co-pays along with the drug op-tions.

SHIP counseling on Medicare A and B and secondary insurance remains available during this time period for those with those with enrollment deadlines.

The 4th Monday and 2nd Thursday SHIP walk-in ser-vice from 1-3pm will continue in September, then re-

sume in December. During October & November, that time period is available only by appointment

How Does Your Medicare Drug Plan Really Work?September 26th, 5:00 PM

Are there steps you can take to lower your prescription drug cost? Does your drug cost vary greatly in the same year, or is the cost fluctuating from year to year and not making sense? This presentation will answer these ques-tions and offer pointers to help you determine if you could benefit from a review & compare this fall of available 2020 drug plans. Explanation of the donut hole elimination, oth-er cost levels, and the annual cost adjustments for 2020 will be provided. This presentation is Part D drug plan basic information in a group setting, not counseling assistance with specific drug plan selections for individuals. Infor-mation for one-on-one sessions at ARC with Senior Health Information Program (SHIP) counselors will be available in a separate newsletter article. The presentation is provid-ed by Medicare SHIP counselors sponsored by ARC. Call ARC 309-888-9099 to make your reservation.

2019 Build the ARC Campaign

Give Back Today to the Build the ARC 2019 Campaign! The ARC Living Memorial Founda!on is accep!ng dona!ons

towards the renova!on of the greenspace on the east side of ARC. The goal is to improve on last year’s fundraising total by

raising $50,000. If just 1,700 of our members make a gi= of $30 during the 30 days of September, the founda!on will exceed its goal. This is a great opportunity for those who love ARC to give

back. The greenspace project would add about 3,000 sq = of outdoor programming space, complete with accessible

pathways, a sea!ng area for programs, and garden beds raised to enable members with various mobility needs to par!cipate in

cul!va!ng herb and bu&erfly gardens. The fundraiser will officially begin on September 1st, and an ARC Showcase that is

open to the public will be held at ARC on Friday, September 13th from 1-3:00 PM. We are coun!ng on you to help us

reach our goal! Donate today on ARC’s website, Facebook page or with a form at the center! All gi-s

made at the center can be turned in to the front desk with the form to be given to Communica!ons

Coordinator Sammi Oleson.

Center Closed Monday, September 2nd for Labor Day!
