A John Lennon and Yoko Ono

When John Lennon met Yoko Ono in 1966, he gave up everything for her. He gave up his wife Cynthia, his son Julian and the Beatles. He and Yoko came from very different backgrounds-she was a well-educated artist and poet, and Japanese. He was from a working class family in Liverpool, England. But they fell head over heels in love. He was shot and killed in New York on December 8th, 1980.

B Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal

In the 17th century, Wmperor Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal in memory of his wife. He was heartbroken when his wife died after nineteen years of marriage. One year after her death, construction of the Taj Mahal began and it took twenty-two years to complete. Six years later Jahan died and was buried with his true love in one of the most romantic buildings in the world.

C The Cowherd and the Weaver

Once upon a time the Sun God was so delighted with his daughter’s weaving that he allowed her to marry the man she loved- a cowherd. They were so in love that she stopped weaving and he stopped looking after his cows. The sun God became angry and sent the cowherd to the other side of the Milky Way for all time.
